I've only got 4 of the speed champions but they're great.
The front light build for the 512 blew my mind.

Yeah they do some really clever stuff. Some of the older ones are really good too, smaller and more intricate.
I 3D print stands for all mine, for full geek points I print the model number on the stand too... -

Ha. I've ordered the discontinued 911 this week too and will definitely pick up the new DB5 when it comes out.
Concerned that I'm seriously considering the upcoming Knights Castle at £350 :S

Good choice, the 911 build is great. And yes the DB5 will be straight into the basket.
I have managed to constrain myself to speed champions and architecture, else it would get very very expensive.

Technics vehicles (especially bikes) are my other vice. Like I need another one...

Just seen this thread! That looks amazing! Robin Hood Lego was my favourite growing up. I had fun in the first lockdown with my old Lego building up my old sets.
Just finished watched Lego Masters Australia on Channel 4, would throughly recommend.

That bathtub racer is brilliant! We ended up getting a couple of those when we were on holiday - had fun building ramps and generally crashing them!

It's so much fun. Love the rubber duck and the tattoo on the mini figures back. It has a surprising amount of momentum when you wind it up. Well worth a fiver.

I know. I had the black knights castle when I was a kid and it was my prize possession.
I'm really not sure what I would do with a massive lego castle at 36 but I fucking want it.
-
• #1311
Lol likewise. I swear there should be a Lego rental service, so you could rent the kit, build it, admire it, then send it back.

Holy shit this is genius

There's a very healthy resale market for large sets but fuck dismantling 5k pieces of castle wall!

This was a thing a while back.
Brick Club maybe? -

Lidl have £2.99 sets in, there's a Volvo wheel loader sat on my desk now.

I need a way to arrange everything on my desk.
I have a monitor mount bolted to the back and centre of the desk, but I also have a USB Audio Interface, CalDigit USB hub, Steam Deck and phone charger.
My current idea isn't to 3D print... because the size is huge... but just to build something out of lego and superglue some bits (the bit that will wrap the monitor mount and provide rigidity to it all), and leave the rest and tightly put together lego accommodating specific bits of equipment.
I don't currently have any lego, so I'm going to be ordering it all.
Is there a designer tool online anywhere that makes it trivial to design a model, and gives accurate dimensions, and that can produce a shopping list of parts?

Bricklink still updates design studio.

• #1319
Perfect, that looks like it meets my needs.

thanks for the heads-up, picked one up today.
Fun little build on my lunch break -

I have...
I am that anally retentive that when I open the boxes I don't use the push tabs, I carefully cut the glue, so that they are less damaged. I did get to the point where they were taken over, so I have flatpacked them. does seem to make a massive difference to sell on value if you have box and instructions for some of the older sets.
Yes, the Ferrari is one of the best recent speed champions, holding off on the Countach for now, I'm up to 33 of them...
