I had a case the other day where the player had to actually be visible, if it was obscured by another window it paused as well

Yeah this is terrible and I think it's the future. Short step from there to full Black Mirror-style eyeball tracking

Several apps out there that use your front facing camera to assess your mood or focus. I reckon camera monitored banner ads will be along sooner than we thought. Fuck that shit.
