Don't have an answer for you, but might be worth asking in this thread: https://www.lfgss.com/conversations/191064/newest

just become an influencer and get sponsored by Tailfin like a normal person
-
• #113529
I think it can be much lighter than a Tailfin, which, despite being carbon, is quite heavy. Also would prefer to be able to mount different sized dry bags depending on trip.

Great leads, thanks. Bikemonger should be able to get them in.
Also considering hacking one of these, but tyre clearance could be an issue: https://www.decathlon.co.uk/p/cycling-pannier-rack-speed-rack-900/_/R-p-324366?mc=8651789

I might have sold you a dummy on the Salsa struts - think they only go up to 370mm
-
• #113532
370 would actually be bang on for 700x45. I took 420 from a standard rack height, but I want it as low as possible. Might need longer though for 29x2.2-2.4.

Nice. And Sim Works does a black version: https://freshtripe.co.uk/simworks-x-nitto-rack-stay-420mm/
Freshtripe said they can be secured with a daruma bolt, which would be fairly neat.
OK, thanks all. Looking like this:
Roswheel rack, 200g, £25: https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/185424933934
Rack struts, 90g, £22: https://freshtripe.co.uk/simworks-x-nitto-rack-stay-420mm/
Daruma bolt fixing, 30g, £12: https://freshtripe.co.uk/velo-orange-compression-daruma-hardware-for-campeur-racks/
Alpkit Airlok Tapered 13l, 150g, £16: https://alpkit.com/products/airlok-xtra-taperedDIY lightweight rear backpack système 470g, £75, switch dry bags out to suit trip
vs Tailfin at 772g, £300, 20l bag option only

Yep, considered that. Not going to be used on a road bike with single calliper bolt, and the platform is too small. I’m not averse to a normal rack, which is exactly what I’ve been doing. I have a lovely old Blackburn MTN which is a nice low platform on 700x45 as it was designed for 26". But it weighs ~600g. Tortec Ultralite is another option at 540g (sans bag) £20-30 with a wider platform.
I’m also talking to https://www.ti-bikes.com/titanium-rack/ about a custom rack, which would be perfect.

As in one microphone for the whole kit played at the same time, or one microphone that will work well for each drum individually?
-
• #113539
I’m almost out the other side. I’ve been trying to make it work for years. The new Roswheel Seat Pack Rack has made it possible, and being available on eBay at £25 has pushed me over the edge.

One mic for the whole kit. My kit isn't large. So I think one mic will work, maybe, possibly.

• #113541
I'll get over there and ask. Thanks.

It’s doable, depends what sound you’re going for and the room you’re in as to whether it works for you.
Decent LDC in a good room with a well-tuned kit and you’ll get a good ‘live drum kit’ sound.

Literally perfect! Thanks.
Just watched. Very helpful video.

Any forum members live near Blackpool?
Trying to buy a jersey (from facebook marketplace) and the seller will only accept bank transfer. Big ask but looking for someone I can paypal money to, who could then collect+pay cash, and post it to me.

My beard grows to 10-5mm, I want to shave it back. My old hair clippers that I previously used have just died.
Hair clippers are crap for shaving, electric shavers can’t do beards.
What do? Is there an obvious thing that solves this and isn’t v expensive?

Cheers! Beers on me next time we meet!

Beard trimmer.

Hair clippers are crap for shaving, electric shavers can’t do beards.
But the two in sequence can do the job. Mow it down to a No.0 crop with the clippers, then smooth it down with an electric shaver if that's the look you're going for.
Salsa rack struts? (think they do long ones and bent ones) - EDIT: Just had a look & can't find UK online supplier. Damn. Maybe ask LBS stockist if they can order as spares? DOUBLE EDIT: These seem to only be 370mm anyway.
Would front basket struts be long enough?
