No gravel at Grinduro Wales over the weekend either.
Really enjoyed it, smashed the climbs, survived the descends. Skipped the very last wet timed one though, didnt fancy a 50min wait, and it was a bit too sketchy for my taste after having done it in the dry the day before.
Either way, ive got my annual bike handling lessons in, met some fun people, broke my 10min power record, helped some strangers, and drank 7 too many pints before raceday. 8/10, would recommend (minus points for weather, lol).
I really, REALLY need to get a bigger cassette for next time. 38-32 smallest gear wasnt very...convenient.

I was there too (on my Pipedream ALICE). Last descent was bonkers, I nearly went OTB a couple of times, especially that chute

I am not ready to let go of the suspension, yeah it can take a SID but then all the mounting things go away so becomes a bit pointless
-
• #25383
You could fit 3" tyres, and do away with suspension maintenance

no SID = no gravel bike

What is the size threshold for when tyres go from being measure in mm to inches? People don't say 'I'm hoping to squeeze in 76mm into this bike" but they will say 3". Seems like everything over 47 is referred to in inches. Is this true?

Time to sell your gravel shares and invest in ATB

Rockshox provide max tyre size in mm. i have wondered if this is to differentiate from a tyre spec and encourage checking real-world widths. I shouldn't give these things that much headspace but there we go

Road and gravel bikes = metric
MTB = imperial, unless you're measuring suspension travel, handlebar width, seatpost diameter...
Ah fuck it, it makes no sense

MTB = imperial
Fixie = 23c or GTFO
I promised myself to stop making these jokes too :(

Trek stopped making them for 2023 because you didn’t buy one.

I know! Very sad.

The biggest reason why MTB are imperial cause it doesn’t really matter if it’s a couple millimetres out like road tyres as the clearance on road bike are tight enough to the point 1 millimetres make a big difference.
2.1 inches can be either 2.05 or 2.15 and it will still fit fine.

Because SRAM "complete groupset" needed all the electronic bits?
No gravel at all in France. Lots of big rocks that made me wish for a full suspension MTB. On another note, e-Gravel bikes are amazing and have allowed my partner to join me on some challenging rides.
