    I'd just cancel anyway, but it's listed under the £1 max final fee and, if I relist it, that will no longer be the case.

  • relist and tell him he's blocked. You can find this option in your seller settings.

  • Yeah, I could do that, but like I say, I listed it under the £1 max seller fees, which won't be the case if I relist.

  • Tried that already. The 'Bay was last resort. I guess I could split it and offer it again on here.

  • Just cancel and say it was buyers request. Buyers can make life much more difficult if you force them into a sale. For example, they could just damage the item and then you have to refund them and get the ‘damaged’ item back at your expense.
    Never worth it. I always strive to keep buyers happy as it means the minimum possibility of hassle down the road…
    Occasionally I’ll even let something go a bit cheaper because if a buyer feels like they’ve got a bit of a bargain they’re less likely to have buyers remorse and make up an excuse to return something.

  • Yeah, I guess. Feel like there should be a way of leaving negative feedback due to buyer being an arsehole, though.

  • Leave 'positive' feedback but explain what a dick he is in the comments. Seems to be the usual approach.

  • You can't force a buyer into a sale, as ebay will accept any reason for pulling out. depending on sale price, I would consider the 70£ haggle if it saves you fees. If collection is possible you might want to bypass ebay altogether

  • I'd have considered it if he hadn't been piss-balling me about already, but he has. I'd also have to post it, which is a hassle in itself, so he can sod off.

  • Got an odd one:

    I ordered some brake levers (new, from ‘shop’ seller) from eBay. I was starting to think along the lines of needing to click on ‘item has not turned up’ when they turn up delivered by local Amazon dude, in Amazon packaging, with Amazon sales slip inside.

    I’m confused - no tracking numbers, order numbers or anything match up. Tracking on eBay still at ‘despatched’. I definitely didn’t order these from Amazon - checked my Amazon account.

    What’s going on?

  • Google the shop name - they probably also sell through Amazon. I've had this a couple of times.

  • Not sure, but I think I should wait for the return label?

  • Had this today, filter papers for my coffee maker, ordered on ebay, turned up in amazon packaging and delivered during dinner time by amazon courier.

    Guess if you are selling both places then you use whichever shipping is cheapest and that must be Amazon.

    Or is it a drop shipping thing? I order from ebay, ebay seller orders from Amazon, they deliver to me?

  • I was trying to do it for people selling one off, used items as I imagined it might help them but gave up on even that a while ago.

    Probably last few times I’ll have used it would be to leave negative feedback for a #cuntseller.

  • Looking for a bit of advice. I recently sold a Patagonia jacket on ebay. I had best offer enabled and a buyer sent me an offer, which I accepted. The buyer still hadn't paid after a day or so and then messaged me to ask me whether it had underarm ventilation zippers. I was on holiday and couldn't check so getting confused with another jacket I had, I said it did. It doesn't, I did genuinely think it did but that's irrelevant really.

    Anyway I sent the item yesterday, forgetting about the zipper vent issue. It has turned up today and the seller has instantly sent a refund request saying I have deceived them by saying it had.

    Am I in the right? They sent me an offer based on the advert, as it was described, no mention of underarm ventilation, which I accepted. They had committed to buy by sending an offer, right?

  • Pretty much, but it depends on how much you want to die in a ditch over it.

    eBay will probably side with the buyer.

    Yes, he should not be sending offers while he has open questions. Asking a question after a best offer and final payment is irrelevant really as he's already committed. He might ask to back out and it'd be up to you. (although the way ebay works he'll just complain about something else and get a refund).

    If he sent an offer with a message that said, hey, do not accept my offer if the answer to this question is no, or something, it'd be slightly different.

    So really even though you made a mistake, he'd already committed. But we all know who eBay favours in a dispute so i'm not confident they'll take your side.

  • Just accept the refund, it's 100% how it will end up anyway so just get the shitshow over sooner rather than later.

  • Yeah buyer will win in the end. If you play hardball they’ll just damage the item fir a reason to return it and then you have a damaged jacket AND you’re out of pocket. Ebay sucks sometimes but you just have to accept that sellers are generally fcuked…

  • Hmm thanks for all your replies, I think I kind of knew already that I should just take the refund and get the jacket back.

    The buyer has sent me a picture of the item since they received so they couldn't try to damage it now and say it came like that, if I did really want to dig my heels in. But I think I will refrain from trying to "win".

  • You could offer them a discount first? Save yourself the hassle. I know, I know, it sucks.

    "Sorry about this, I genuinely believed it did have the feature you wanted. I really want to avoid the hassle of a return, so can I offer you £ off? No worries if not, just let me know".
