  • Do your callipers take pads with fins?

  • it’s not a downhill bike

Neither is mine, but 4-piston caliper and 203mm rotor gives beautiful modulation and plenty of power without having to develop the grip strength of a gorilla. If a fork manufacturer told me not to do it, I'd get a different fork over giving up my lovely brake.

It's clearly not a downhill bike because the brakes failed you going downhill, so you need to make it a downhill bike.

    This is a good point.

  • Braking is for losers or something

  • Not if you're descending the Galibier!

  • Thanks for all this (and to other responses).

Think I'll give it a test at the weekend and then hop on a train next week.

  • Why do I see so many deliveroo riders wearing balaclavas? No helmet or anything just the sports material ones motorcyclists wear in the winter

  • Fashion innit. Came from rap in the US, adopted by drill rappers here, now your average 15 year old that says "blud" wears one. And if they don't have a helmet they aren't delivering food.

  • In Topboy they are delivering food

  • "Did you just say blud"

  • Any London based people know of a good bakery that do deliveries to NW6. Want to send some baked treats to some friends that've just had a baby.

  • Same question for n16

  • Does anyone know a London framebuilder who could add bottle mounts to an aluminum frame?

  • I'd second Prestige.

  • and also in fact replace the freely spinning bottle mounts in a second hand bike I just bought...

  • Did you try the hack/bodge you can use to tighten those rivnuts? (I went with that and Araldite - because a low-value frame and it stopped the ringing sound DEAD)

  • No I haven't, might give it a go cheers!

  • Move it to the folder with a rule, then press delete after scanning through it.

  • Cross post from the retro MTB thread.

I have some 1997 Avid single digit 2.0 (or 20?) v brake calipers. The springs for the arms are separate with no adjustment screws (think this changed in 1998). I snapped one of the springs last night and would like to replace all 4 of them with new. Anyone know if I can or where I can find the parts?

  • I want to start messing around looping pedals with multiple instruments. Mostly drums and bass guitars. My question is can I use a single microphone for the drums and should I use a dual input looping pedal/station? Secondly what looping stations/pedals are recommended? Also do they quantise? Probably not. Anyway. Thanks. Also I don't want to spend all the monies.

  • Any recommendations for a good ice cube tray?

Something that doesn't leak if you don't place it the right way up and has a lid that actually stays on.

  • I’d like to create a lightweight rear rack for a dry bag containing sleeping bag, etc, which has been inspired by this. I am going to use a Roswheel Seat Pack Rack for the platform but I still need to figure out the upright supports and brackets, which need to be 420mm-ish.

Could anyone point me in the direction of some OTP support struts that I could use? The Carradice struts are too short. Hoping I don’t need to go DIY, but will if I have to.
