Amazingly they are a by product of nuns using egg white to stiffen their hats (to be clear this has nothing to do with @hats unless they have recently joined a Portuguese convent). So indeed they are part of Godz Plan.

I actually prefer the kinda boring "normal" egg custard tarts.

I think it's the pastry. If we could put the Portuguese gloop into the (British?) bases that would be an interesting combo to try.

Oh, love those. They used to be made here in my town, but we can still get them frozen made in TO.
