What's your method for the tubs?
I bought loads of cheap MP compost (Levington's Essentials ) which was crap but I roughly mixed it with composted horse/farm manure (Wickes) plus a handful of 6X chicken fertilizer .
Chitted tubers on a 6" base of this then cover and earth up as the halms grow.
I never let the tubs dry out so possibly too moist for ants ?

What's your method for the tubs? Done spuds in them for the first time this year and I've been happy with some of my results but looks like about 4 have had ants make nests in them and going by the first one I turned out, totally ruined the crop :(
