Basically, telling an overweight person to try harder can sometimes be a bit like telling a depressed person to cheer up.

It was in reply to Boris Johnson having all the resources if he wants to drop weight.

But if he doesn't he doesn't, somebody's weight is between them and their GP and doesn't tell you anything about their character as you say.

Correct, it doesn't matter whether Boris is a fat lying self-serving hypocrite or a thin one, it's the character that matters not the body shape.

If he were to become unwell due to his weight, or lack thereof, I for one wouldn't mourn.

What has a complex physical and (quite often) mental health medical condition that can lead to serious illness and death have to do with their doctor?

Obesity can lead to high blood pressure, diabetes and joint problems.

Somebody I know lost weight to help her joints, when I was 4 kg heavier my blood pressure was also higher so I decided to drop some weight. (Not fun no I like food) But 140/90 Vs 120/70 BP cha...

An ex colleague became pre diabetic so she started running and changed her diet.

But some people can carry more weight and are fine, hence it's up to the GP to assess.

Even so, it's not easy and not all diet approaches work for all people, you need to learn about food, cooking, make time, get your family on board etc.

I am not going to judge people of they find it hard, I think GPs can now prescribe fruits & veg and free exercise classes in some areas.

I think a lot of people just go judge overweight people are unhealthy, well if you are not their GP you don't know.

Even if you are pro-nuclear it is hard to see how its a good deal for the UK taxpayer to pay the French state £20bn (partly through rises in energy bills for a decade) in return for a nuclear power station that will generate expensive power with no price caps for the consumer.

And then there are the concerns about the damage to the environment on the rather special site, and the fact that very few nuclear energy experts seem to think that the decomissioning costs of the project have satisfactorily been taken into account. This has BIG RED WARNING SIGNALS all over it.
