  • At least the British apple will be back at the top of the tree.

  • But if we had anyone even mildly competent it would almost guarantee another Tory term. Not saying we won't get that anyway but you would hope she could accelerate the demise of the Tories.

  • No, she’ll accelerate the bring back Boris campaign.

  • Surprised we still have that many fire engines tbh

  • *heads to wanstead flats on firemarshall duties

there was a blaze there last summer and a few years before that too

there must be a few arsonist getting their matches lit before the rains come

  • I went for a walk around Wanstead Flats a couple of nights ago and it is a tinderbox. The Epping Forest Constables (?) had put up some “no barbecues” signs

  • There would be more capacity if everyone had the foresight of Johnson with the water cannon, he’s genuinely a latter day political Martin Peters

  • It. Is. A. Disgrace.

She had me swooning at Fizz with Liz though

  • I get that. But on the whole I'd prefer the country didn't get even more shit for 2 more years. Unfortunately the fate of the tories is intrinsically linked to that of the country for now.
Ah - fuck it. Whoever it is will be fucking awful. Maybe she won't be as austerity as Sunak.

  • One of Sky News political editors opining that Tory members might actually choose the leader who could win a GE vs the leader they crave.

  • Maybe she won't be as austerity as Sunak

If she cuts taxes like she’s promised in the ‘debates’, she’ll have to cut services too.

  • She’s continuity Johnson without the dubious charisma.

Not that we have a choice, just depends on who the Tory Party members would like to fuck us

  • Maybe she won't be as austerity as Sunak

    You think?

The book asserts that the UK has a "bloated state, high taxes and excessive regulation". It then says:

The British are among the worst idlers in the world. We work among the lowest hours, we retire early and our productivity is poor. Whereas Indian children aspire to be doctors or businessmen, the British are more interested in football and pop music.

It says the UK should “stop indulging in irrelevant debates about sharing the pie between manufacturing and services, the north and the south, women and men”.

  • Surely any change from the published manifesto would need a GE. otherwise the lord's will get block happy.

  • Was clutching at straws. Its all for shit. Whoever it is will fuck us over for a couple of years.

  • retire early

Meaning if you are physically and mentally capable of working when you’re 70, then you should be made to. Like an old piece of machinery that can still produce: why would you retire it, if you can still squeeze even a small net benefit from it?

  • There's a fire just down the road from us at the moment.

But it's a golf club, so silver linings and all.

Of course, I would hope that nobody is injured / hurt.

  • Unless they're golfers...

  • Look at you golf shaming!

  • Tl,dr - why on earth is your friend fat when they could be thin if they tried harder?

Society assuming thin is the norm and that if someone exists in a bigger/fat body they do so because of a lack of will power, lack of discipline, and lazyness and that thin people are determined, disciplined and hard working makes no sense.

Body size is just body size - it tells you nothing about a person's health status, work ethic, discipline, how much exercise they do, etc.

Why does exercise have to result in weight loss, can't we just enjoy it rather than doing it to put ourselves in to a calorie defecit?

  • why on earth is your friend fat when they could be thin if they tried harder?

Because that ignores the complex mental health reasons behind why people struggle to lose weight too.

That's why it's cruel. Eating less and doing more is of course how to lose weight but saying it's as simple as trying harder completely misunderstands what's involved in reality.
