Aesthetics. That and the acoustic boards are 600mm wide and very expensive, so 400mm centres would mean lots of wasteage.

cheers for this. 99 % sure I will go quartz but I will check out what sam_w has linked below.
Also, with cupboard space being at a premium do you really need a quooker? If you don't want an electric kettle then get one that goes on the hob (assuming it is a decent spec induction hob).
You are spot one, as is @Acliff. Will be here 3 years max in all likihood, won't get it back, and it is £1k + £300 to have it descaled once every 3 years or about that to get an upgraded scale control for £240 which has consumable parts to buy too. Nice induction kettle which can live on the hob.

Hi yeah I am. Not getting worktop from Magnet. Over £££ so will check 3 places. Will try that one you said thanks, and then these two for quartz. Both come highly recommended too

2400x1200mm sheet sizes so the boards span over the joists anyway? 300, 400 or 600mm are all standard spacings for that reason.

Acoustic panels go between the joists.

I see! Oops, that definitely makes sense then

Floor - sheet stuff like forbo marmoleum (lino) or vinyl / rubber all need very smooth sub floors to look pukka
Case in point/words of warning to anyone else DIYing it.
Ridge on the left is where two bits of ply underneath butt up together - yours truly ignored the ‘you need to self-level screed ply’ instructions to avoid having a higher threshold.
Bumps on the right are due to me first putting down too much glue, umming and arring, and then pulling it up to scrape off the excess leaving some clumps of semi-dry glue that I missed when picking the big ones off.Ultimately, IDGAF, it’s still functional akd I still like it very much which I guess is what it’s all about in the end!
Obligatory ‘excuse the mess’.

I'm just about to start on our kitchen.
Luckily it's only about 2m x 2m.
It has wooden floorboards currently which will need to come up as I'd like tiles in there.
What do you put down instead of floorboards on the joists to tile? Ply? Or is there some sort of other board? -
• #3766
Is there anything to stop you putting 5.5mm ply over the top of the existing floorboards and screwing it all down every 150mm? Would firm everything up nicely and save you having to pull up the floorboards, buy and install a load of 18mm+ thick ply.

How is the drop between the existing and new done? Will you have to excavate it or is it just the difference between a suspended floor and non-suspended?
-
• #3768
That's a good question. Was hoping to not have to excavate and have a smooth transition. Obvs, thinking about it, there'll inevitably be some sort of step up from the hallway to the kitchen?

It was a question to someone else!

Existing ground floor is a concrete slab, ~400mm or two steps down to the garden which I really want to maintain. Think the new floor will be a slab too, though hopefully with some insulation and underfloor heating!

Think the trees outgrown the planter...

I'm glad I am not the only one to have ignored the coloured flooring company instructions. :-)

Put a deposit down on the magnet kitchen and committed to buy it today. Getting worktop elsewhere, as was 1k cheaper.
Got 50% off the cabinets (which is effectively full price), 20% of the sides and stuff (which really added up) but got £1500 towards appliances which is comparable to a decent discount I think, so got a nice AEG oven and hob, standard beko fridge freezer, beko dishwasher.Primed with extractor knowledge from @Acliff I decided theirs was shit, AEG too expensive so looking to get something like the one he linked but it is now out of stock in stainless! needs to be 60cm or less self circulating. Also buying my own tap (theirs looked shit, so now tap shopping).
Also done away with quooker idea. Will get a nice induction kettle.
Any extractor, mixer tap or kettles anyone would recommend?
Can't wait for the before and after. It is blue and will have light quartz top

Worth giving Luxair a call, their customer service/sales line are pretty good from memory.
Might come back into stock before your kitchen gets installed?
For what specific purpose? There's obviously a specific purpose
