Wheel dishing?

Has anyone used Sabatical Homes? Any advice, stories, things to hold in mind? If feels a bit official compared to the more casual arrangements we had in mind; but then we did the maths and realised we could barely afford to do our plan without charging a more market-like rent

Shimano 105 righthand brifter.
Internal 'plastic' shell has fractured/snapped off.Anyone know:
Replacement shell available?
Does the plastic shell work well with Superglue?Alternatively, anyone have a surplus 10sp righthand brifter?

That's toast.
I don't believe anyone does spares for them.
The other bad news is that, unless you are lucky, levers are mostly sold as a pair.
In some good news..... the weather forecast for tomorrow is a tad cooler.
ETA - I may have a RH Sora shifter in the shed which you can have for nowt.
I just need to go and look in the shed.
But that is where the spiders live. -

Shimano 105
Which 105? The lever bracket is a listed spare, e.g. for ST-5700 right hand it's Y6TH98090, there are some in Germany on ebay https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/394146011284

I stand corrected.

Don't beat yourself up, your instinct that buying a pair of complete levers would be the answer is probably still right, since the price will be similar and it saves the work of rebuilding the old one onto a new bracket. Also, @mespilus will then have a left hand spare for when he falls over the other way 🙂

Many thanks your varied replies.
Firstly, no fall.
The rhshifter started not returning to the neutral position, but could be persuaded, whilst cycling.
It looked like the axle had lost its outer (oversized) retaining end as it was displaced from its locating hole.
Continuing to cycle, it then became clear that the inner side of the shell had cracked and sheared off.Fortunately, the Ruislip branch of Hillingdon Triathletes had a spare 6700 rhshifter, which has been collected, but is yet to fitted due to a local rain shower.

Thanks for taking the time to check their availability. Chunky price plus (post-Brexit) postage would have left me wondering until the above resolution became available.
I wonder if anyone is 3D printing the shells? -

Not worth it, the OEM ones are available and cheap. The alternatives (buy second hand, buy new 4700, upgrade to 105 11-speed) are all better value than reverse engineering components of an obsolete groupset.

summer business attire
To finalise this, apparently to wear summer business attire ≠ wear dressed down business /sharper side of business casual. Rather, it means business but in appropriate fabrics for warm weather and observing seasonal fashion conventions regarding colour.

Two questions from me today for the hive mind - converting my cargo bike to 11spd
Chain length. Chain stay is 465mm, front chain ring is 34 and rear is an 11-42, ive got a xtr rear mech… is 114 links right?
Second one is the bike has dropouts but currently has an axle on the rear wheel, I do have the kit on the way for the hub but is there any reason not to use a quick release?

What flat bar levers are you supposed to use with
canticuntcantilever brakes (e.g. TRP Eurox)? Should I be using MTB levers for vee brakes or flat bar levers designed for road caliper brakes? -
• #113468
road caliper brakes but in reality it'll make very little difference. having too little cable pull is more of an issue than having too much
-
• #113470
Flat bar for road. V brake levers will pull too much cable, feel wooden/lack modulation, and reduce the mechanical advantage of the system.
-
• #113471
Is the cable routing through the mech to the clamp bolt correct?

I've got a little cast train piggy bank and the chimney has snapped off.
I don't have a welder.
Could JB Weld fix it? Or is there another product that would be better? I've never used the stuff, just normal epoxy.
One of the main issues is that the two edges are jagged and sharp as fuck, so if it gets snapped again I don't want my kids fingers cut to ribbons.

cast
Cast from what? That's going to make a big difference to your repair strategy if you're thinking of metallurgical repair. Also, show us the break. A clean fracture will go back together well enough for decorative work with common cyanoacrylate anaerobic adhesive, i.e. superglue.

Fix it quickly, before the kids find out that you've nicked the money from it.

You say it’s playing up, so it worked fine previously? Tried a different wheel or cassette?
If yes it worked fine, here’s what I’d double check, based on experience in a shop:
1- Wheel is in drop out correctly.
2-Derailleur hanger is torqued to frame.
3- Hanger is aligned with frame.
4- Cable moves freely.
5- Derailleur is set up properly- i.e., seated on hanger properly; low, high and B screws are good; cable is routed properly.
6- Chain is correct speed, correct length, and not worn.
7- Cassette isn’t loose.
8- Freehub/hub don’t have play.
9- No pentagrams, hexes or other dark arts inscriptions (that you weren’t aware of, I guess).
10- Wheel dish, because you might as well.
The search term I used was "banana hammock"🍌
