include DAB radio
Is there anything on DAB that you can't get as an IP stream?
-
• #11353
Possibly not, just a question of what is easier to use - searching internet radio stations on Volumio gives thousands of results but often can’t find relatively mainstream ones I’m looking for.

Complete Hi fi for sale.
It sold on Ebay for 69quid a couple of weeks ago but the buyer couldnt pick it up for some reason.
So £69 for a Maranz amp, Mission speakers, Denon CD player and Sherwood record player. comes with shelving unit and speaker stands.
pick up only from Erith Kent.
If its not to far i could deliver, albeit im not crossing the river or driving around the M25

If you lived near Brum, I'd have that off you purely for the CD player, amp and speakers. Anyhoo, GLWS, and I hope you get more than £69 for it.

Yeah I can see Sonos is an option, just always been a sceptic
Minor dredge, but figured it worth a warning that Sonos is very limited on Android. You can only use services directly supported by the Sonos app rather than 'casting' from an app to the speaker as you do with chromecast.
Also, the 'apps' within Sonos are crap compared to their regular versions. True for youtube music and BBC sounds at least, no idea about spotify or anything else.

Sonos does Spotify connect so no problem there.

So that argon audio radio I mentioned as a kitchen radio option?
All of the buttons stopped working today.
Thats 2 months after purchase. Ok, it was a demo model. But still, the Sanyo it replaced is from the mid eighties, and while the tape deck needed work every button was working. -

anyone owned/heard a Well Tempered turntable, just idle future upgrade end game thoughts at the mo (the simplex 2)
i’m not a golf batting fan but that arm is quite something.

The Amadeus bearing has zero clearance and damping for un-rivalled performance. The tone-arm is constructed with a golf ball partially immersed in high viscosity silicone fluid. Golf balls are very precisely made and are well-suited for this application. The degree of damping is adjustable.

Its on par with a Sondek
And I'd break that in about 5 mins

It’s the Schroeder arm, really nice design. There’s a massive thread on it on the diy audio forum where people tried to make it and the man himself chipped in helping people to make their own.

owners seem to like them, some moving from a Linn and not going back.
they don’t come up that often so it will be a case of the cash and opportunity planets being aligned -

I posted this in the 'Dazzaa's sale thread' and was helpfully directed here, apologies for crosspost - basically, I picked up a lovely (looking) Rotel amp just before lockdown - RA-312. It worked perfectly when first plugged in. Then, my mate moved in with a full DJ/speaker set-up so we moved over to his gear and mine went back in its box. Not touched since, just tried to set it up again not getting the slightest hum/crackle/noise through (into epos speakers and just trying a phone via an aux lead) - I've checked the fuses which are fine. Power light coming on so seems like that side of things is working. Any ideas/things I've overlooked/stupid mistakes anyone can think of that might cause this? It was an ebay bargain so I'm not too fussed if I have to move it on but obviously I'd love to get it working again. Cheers

I'm sure it sounds great, but it looks super fiddly. I'd be on the lookout for vintage SME, EMT, jelco and ortofon tonearms. For newer ones, Schroeder, Abis/Sorane, audio creative.

Some amps have fuses for the output stage. These may be accessible via the rear panel or you may need to take the lid off.
I've not googled for the particular model you have so it's just a guess.

Gonna ask the obvious stupid question:
What's the setting of the SPEAKERS switch?-OFF

-1+2
-4 ohmsThere seems to be plenty of examples of the service manual (containing troubleshooting tips) online for free : )

There are two glass fuses at the back (accessible by unscrewing a protective panel) - checked these and both fine...
-

Correct except the final one says "speaker 4CH" - I've tried all positions with the other variables but will have another look at the manual (the original came with the amp) before selling for spares/repair...

Hey there,
I am moving out of the UK soon and thinking about selling my Bowers & Wilkins 685 S2, also got the center speaker that goes with em (HTM62 S2 ), and an AV Receiver (Marantz NR1508 AV Receiver in Black )
Based in East London, would anyone be interested? Might do a post in classified soon,
shoot a DM if you are ✌

It also shows up as a DLNA renderer so you can use BubbleUPNP to cast stuff to it as well.
Although nothing I use isn't supported directly by it and things like Plex, Tidal and Amazon Music allow you to use the native app and cast.

Anyone got a decent/basic amp they're looking to move on? Nothing fancy, just want it to drive a turntable and bluetooth receiver. Ideally sub £100 but can move slightly on this if necessary. Cheers

I have some kit I no longer use and am looking to sell. Thought it'd be worth seeing if theres any interest here before listing on eBay or similar.
- Dynaudio audience 52 speakers . Maple finish . Very good condition, sound fantastic
- Cyrus 2 amp and PSX, sounds amazing, but no longer used. Good condition
- KEF X300a active speakers . Amp / DAC / speakers all in one. A bit like a baby ls50 . 1st gen so no wireless / Bluetooth. Black finish . Very good condition . Darko likes them https://darko.audio/2013/06/kef-x300a-powered-loudspeaker-review/. Had them plugged into a Mac mini via usb
If anyone is interested I can get some pics and prices together

There's also Revo which is very similar to Ruark but a bit cheaper. Also uses the undok app but I'm not that impressed with that (no Tidal) so tend to use BubbleUPNP.
For ease of use something with voice control is nice, makes putting stuff on without thinking about it very easy.
I've got a Sonos soundbar and will probably pick up some more of their stuff, their app is by far the best of the ones I've used for integrating various services.
