  • Can anyone please advise why my Sram Rival 1x is playing up...

Depending on adjustment, the rear mech either doesn't engage the largest sprocket on the cassette, or it does and then flirts with the spokes.

I've swapped the derailleur out, after the first ended up wrapped in the wheel due to this issue. Next one is set to do the same eventually. Had a mechanic take a look too; and it's the same story when he set it up.

    Sunrace cassette.

  • Have you checked derailleur hanger alignment?

  • Is the cable routing through the mech to the clamp bolt correct?

  • You say it’s playing up, so it worked fine previously? Tried a different wheel or cassette?

If yes it worked fine, here’s what I’d double check, based on experience in a shop:
1- Wheel is in drop out correctly.
2-Derailleur hanger is torqued to frame.
3- Hanger is aligned with frame.
    4- Cable moves freely.
5- Derailleur is set up properly- i.e., seated on hanger properly; low, high and B screws are good; cable is routed properly.
6- Chain is correct speed, correct length, and not worn.
    7- Cassette isn’t loose.
    8- Freehub/hub don’t have play.
9- No pentagrams, hexes or other dark arts inscriptions (that you weren’t aware of, I guess).
10- Wheel dish, because you might as well.
