Speakers have no power supply/switch. I assume this means passive but, as is becoming evident, my knowledge in this arena is basically non-existent...

I think the first knob on the amp controls speaker output, check that's pointing to the right bit?
It looks like it has lots of in out switches too - could these be cancelling each other out, or the tape monitor switch?
