Do you have the thread on ignore? -
• #113432
Ah, fuck, I did actually 🙄
Thanks for the help 😅

Most probably yes. It will depend on the current use of the land (i.e. if it's agricultural currently then you will need permission for change of use), the specifics of the court (i.e. will it have lighting? will it have high fences?) and if the location is in the green belt.
There's a guide that might be handy at https://www.sportengland.org/how-we-can-help/facilities-and-planning/planning-for-sport/sports-club-planning-application-guide

Anyone have any tips on passport acquisition…?
We applied for a passport for our 1 year old 6 weeks ago, and it’s not arrived yet, we are supposed to be travelling on Sunday.
Uk passport office currently says allow up to 10 weeks currently so very little chance of it arriving in the next few days, and there are no available appointments to go for 1 week fast track service, the online system leads you down a path to be able to accelerate but then just tells me the status and hangs up!

From the STW passport thread;
Yes & no. I applied ten weeks ago. Not heard anything since. Applied for an upgrade two weeks ago. Heard nothing. Dozens of phone calls with differing advice every single time I spoke to someone. Ended up going to the passport office who were brilliant but can’t do anything until you’re within 48hrs of travel. Managed to sort it after being extorted for more cash. Upgrade is £66 and takes a week. I applied for this 10 days ago but was told yesterday that I need the Fast track service as I travel on Monday. This is £100. I obviously paid but seems a bit sneaky to me!
If the call centre was as informative and clear as the staff at the passport office were I would’ve had a lot less stressful few days!!

Anyone every ordered tools from eBay Japan?
-
• #113437
I've picked up some small hand tools from japanese stores on eBay. Through my usual app not a .jp site though. Nothing large and no power tools either.
-
• #113438
Only thing I've had import/tax issues with from Japan was a track frameset.

I’ve used some import duty calculators and seems 20% is likely,
Just trying to figure out if this seller is legit.

I recall some cheap Makita chat on the eBay finds thread a while back - might be worth searching that in case there’s any relevant info. Although if not legit, I doubt the seller would have been active that long.

I am after a USB C charger for my work laptop so I can tidy up my WFH setup by powering my UBS hub.
Dell website lists a 65W USB C adapter that is compatible with my model.
Dell 65-Watt USB-C AC Adapter - UK | Dell UKCan I just grab any reputable 65W USB C charger?
There’s a label on the bottom that says 19.5V / 3.34A in case that makes a difference.

Yeah deffo. And I’ve just found that it’s the same seller that a well known tool reviewer has linked to (specifically for importing models that aren’t yet available in Europe/America), so it seems promising tbh.

Anything USB C will be compatible, although if it's under 65W it may just make it run out of battery more slowly, I'd just grab whatever Anker are selling that does 65W. A very brief bit of research makes it seem that all USB C cables can handle 60W but some can do 100W which I guess you'll want.

What's your official laptop power supply, is that the 19.5V/3.34A (i.e. 65W)? Dells (and probably other laptops) can be antsy if the charger is underpowered and may throttle the processor.
What will the USB-C one be doing, if anything, apart from powering your laptop?
I'd normally go Anker, Ugreen seem decent and I assume that Amazon Basics won't kill you. If it's got multiple sockets then check that one can output the full power (or as much power as you need).

is that the 19.5V/3.34A
Yes I think so, but will check.
what will the USB-C one be doing
As in the charger? It will go into a USB C hub that has my screen and keyboard and plugs into the thunderbolt port on the laptop.
Ultimately I could just use the BT on the keyboard and plug in two cables. But I'd rather have one cable to insert and make it a bit neater. Also my WFH pattern is very haphazard right now with me in the office a lot more than home.

Can anyone please advise why my Sram Rival 1x is playing up...
Depending on adjustment, the rear mech either doesn't engage the largest sprocket on the cassette, or it does and then flirts with the spokes.
I've swapped the derailleur out, after the first ended up wrapped in the wheel due to this issue. Next one is set to do the same eventually. Had a mechanic take a look too; and it's the same story when he set it up.
Sunrace cassette.

• #113448
Have you checked derailleur hanger alignment?
-
• #113449
Yes, wondering if it was powering anything beyond the laptop (screens, HDDs, etc)
Sounds like 65W from a decent brand should be ok

Thanks @Jonny69 and @gbj_tester. Don’t have a g-string (v-string? tee-string?), I’m going for a light linen suit and shirt.
