I thought that was the cost of 2 pints in Covent Garden.
-
• #78
You could be right. It's been quite some time since I was in Covent Garden for beers.
Can't drink for a week or so though. Fucksticks.

Your dentist gave you best practice advice, feel free to totally ignore it, I did and have yet to die.

I had a shandy last night and now I look like...
-
• #81
Better than you did before the shandy.

• #82
How very dare you!
My chiseled features have made many a lady gasp.
Normally as I appear staring through a bedroom window, but that's another matter.

I need all 4 out at some point and I'd really rather be completely knocked out and not know anything.
I'm fine with needles and having local for other things but it's the whole hands in my mouth yanking my teeth out that I don't want to experience.
Also one is still half under the gum so needs cutting out 🤢 -
• #84
It wasn't so bad. You really don't know what they're doing until there's a bit of a crunch.
I think the most painful bit after the needle jabs was when she kept grabbing my facial hairs during the stitching.
Think I'd rather the local over the GA when you consider the sickness you get after a GA.

Also, they definitely take funny photos of your dick when you're under a GA.

For free?!
-

Yeah it's not the feeling, coz you don't feel shit I guess. It's the whole pliers and hands in my mouth and breathing in my own saliva and latex gloves unpleasantness
-
• #88
Also I want @ tomsvoboda to do it for me
-
• #89
Yeah, but you don't get them. They stay in their private collection.
-
• #90
Yeah, might depend on your dentist but my Polish woman was pretty good, lots of asking if I'm ok while I tried to make jokes about the music or whatever. I didn't even see which tools they were using at the time - only when stitching I could see the suture stuff.
I'd rather see what's going on and offer a response if something goes wrong and I have a choice to make rather than just leave it up to them to make a decision.
Locals are also a lot safer for ancient fucks like me.
-
• #91
Nah fuck that. Put me under, I want no part of it.
Wake me up when it's done and you're ready to bleed my wallet dry for the privilege -
• #92
Actually good point. Mine cost 1800 quid (plus all the previous appointments) so presumably if I'd opted for GA it'd be even more?
I need to get onto insurance to see if I can make a claim.

"Unfortunately the specialist that you saw for your treatment is not AXA recognised so we would not be able to cover your treatment"
Another in the large 'insurance companies are cunts' pile.

Can you get nitrous?
I had a little hose in my nose, felt normal and then boom! High as fuk and super relaxed.
It cost $50 extra, wasn’t covered by insurance but well worth it. -

I had 3 wisdom teeth out. One lower removed by dentist under local anaesthetic. Two upper at Kingston Hospital under general anaesthetic. nil by mouth night before, woke up mid morning with a lot of facial bruising. Discharged on the day, I needed a cab no way I could navigate my way home by public transport. Then spent two days post op drinking beer at local pub in Mortlake or liquid foods, I could not crunch on anything for a week, it was a miserable time. Whatever they put into each socket to aid healing tasted awful. Glad I had them done back in 1992, not sure I could face all of that today.

Swelling is worse in the morning. Pain is worse and tastes gross but just keep brushing and salt rinsing.
I rode home after mine cos it was only a local local. Didn't do anything Tue but did 15min on the turbo which felt like quite enough. Going to hit it again today and hoping I'm ok to do a hilly 200 on Sat, although it's not looking promising given my head doesn't like sudden movements, etc.
I've done hundreds of hours on gels and energy drink only so the feeding shouldn't be an issue.

just be careful of hard sucking...
the small clot that forms in the empty socket can be pulled out so squeezing a gel and sucking the last drops of goo out could be risky.though this is less likely as the days post op go by.

be careful of hard sucking...
I'm always careful when hard sucking.
But yes, they warned me about "dry socket" ooh err
I will have to forgo the dregs of the gels to save my clots. :(
"The plan does not cover treating dental problems or any routine dental care including treatment of cysts in the jaw that are tooth related or are of a dental nature. This also means we will not pay any fees for dental specialists, such as orthodontists, periodontists, endodontists or prosthodontists. We will cover the following types of oral surgery when you are referred for treatment by a dentist: • reinserting your own teeth after an injury • removing impacted teeth, buried teeth and complicated buried roots • removal of cysts of the jaw (sometimes called enucleation)."
I'm going to try my luck with my insurance. No dental but these were impacted wisdoms so I may be able to get them to cough up for some of my fun. £2k buys a lot of beer...
