That was a good one, wasn't it! That route is the most fixed-friendliest - long gentle downhills giving momentum to get up the shorter steeper uphills. And road surfaces just about all excellent. I rode with a couple who are much stronger riders than me, so absolutely flew on the ride out. But still managed to miss the sunrise for the first time (4th DD). Sorry not sorry if brought any forum disrepute for any questionable fixie skidding skills employed. Was happy to leave my riding partners for the way back as I knew I'd be slow after riding way too fast there. Had two sleeps on the beach but needed another two in the afternoon as was feeling increasingly nauseous from even before half way back. 3 x pub stops in the afternoon. First at Castle Hedingham, empty except for 3 locals who didn't mind me sleeping on the sofa. Second, Finchingfield for a cucumber gin prosecco cocktail which I figured would refresh and help with my increasing heat exhaustion. Third, Great Dunmow for a brandy and coke and final sleep in the beer garden. Don't think I've ever spent so much of a ride climbing long 1-3% inclines as that, just never ending. Paid so much for the fun the night before. Got home after 10 via Indian takeaway purchase, too tired to even wash properly so literally just washed the sweat off before collapsing into bed without even eating.
