  • Yes but I am not sure it makes sense for me. UV curing and the time the whole process takes ends up being problematic both because of dust gathering and time=$

  • I understand. Waiting three days for an equal amount of coats to dry have not been fun.
The finish however is very nice, as it evens out the brushstrokes by itself.
Would definitely use again to cover paint scratches and the likes if it holds up to time. I guess I'll have to ride the bike in the winter and put away wet to see how it holds up.

    How about cerakote?

  • Cerakote requires an oven like powder coating and a spray gun. So same issue as other paint options.
It is going to be an investment to go for in-house paint options no matter what do now I am doing some math and considering what I need/want and what my future business can actually carry.

  • That makes sense. I was thinking for in terms of finding a reliable supplier - as cerakot is often used for guns (bleurgh!) I'd guess they are more attentive to details and finish than large volume powder coaters.

But it looks like the only shops are in Vejen, Skjern, Svendborg and Kokkedal..

  • Ready for two weeks vacay at our summerhouse. Bringing this and hoping it's gonna be alright. Semi striped thread in the post mount on the forks. Ordered some helicoil solution and hoping to ghetto fab on the patio in the sunset drinking beers.
10sp XT with 11-46t casette shifts if you use a pretty long B screw. But I am not sure shifting is good enough for the riding I do som might opt for a 11-42t when I get back. Time will tell.

  • Got to be two of the raddest bikes on the forum right there

  • are those stayer seatstays? loking slim. do these flex a bit?

  • Stayer stays are actually Hulsroy stays. I bend the first ones for Sam back in 2017ish. He now has his own bender and supplies me with bend T45 steel.
These ones are 16mm diameter and mega stiff. It might look skinny but that's because all other tubes are wildly oversized. Down tube is 44.5mm, seat tube 35mm etc.

  • superb, hope it rides as good as it looks

  • Thanks. I imagine it will descend well at least :)

  • It's come out looking so good, can't wait to hear the ride report

  • Thank you. Hopefully I know more about that very soon

  • I like this

Can't remember if I already asked you where you got the 44.5mm downtube?

  • It's a tandem tube i bought from Ceeway for a cargo bike project. I had to use it for this tho as I could not get a suitable down tube measuring 777mm from mitre to mitre

  • Vacay.

  • Such a sick bike!

    Shame about the paint resilience...

  • other than that, how is the paint holding on ?

  • Thanks. I am gonna get a powder coating set up and build an oven

  • Paint is great as long as you don't touch it. My samples I have left outdoors are amazing still. I would not hesitate painting brackets or furniture that doesn't see any mechanical wear. But for bikes it's quite impractical with how I treat my things

  • killer bike.

    sorry about the paint.

  • Shame about the paint but it's a great colour!

  • It's a nice colour and it's environmentally friendly but if it wipes off it's no good. I like the little fish-mouth joins on the ends of the chainstays.

  • Thanks guys

  • Yeah excellent work, love it.

Will you make me a fixie please
