  • Can I take you up on this. Whereabouts are you based?

  • SJS have a few fronts that come in below £60:
    https://www.sjscycles.co.uk/lighting-ebike/
    As does Bikester:
    https://www.bikester.co.uk/parts/e-bike-parts/e-bike-lights/?prefn1=f_4397&prefv1=Front%20Light&srule=price-low-to-high&page=1&sz=48

Almost all for fork crown mounting through so you’d need to do a bit of bracket-wrangling.

  • Posted this on another board and thought it interesting to share here: The size difference between a 400/500wh, 625wh, and 750wh Bosch Powertube.

  • At first you think its a 10-15 year heckler or intense of some kind, then the more you look the more garbage it becomes. Make a great city kid transporting sled though, hopefully the upper battery stays attached long enough to transport you to hospital before the blood loss from ripping out inside of your leg causes you to bleed out.

  • Do USA Gocycle G4's really have double the power (500W) of the EU version (250W) or are they region locked (or both)?

It would be nice to have one tiny Brexit benefit and be able to legally ride 20MPH assisted.

  • I think just region locked. When you set up the app it asks where you are - europe or us.

  • Do USA Gocycle G4's really have double the power (500W) of the EU version (250W) or are they region locked (or both)?

Mine had the option of choosing the region. If I selected USA it went a LOT faster, so I presume they’re all 500w and electronically limited. However the software did have a number of pop ups which told me this wasn’t legal from my location etc. It’s still pretty nice when set to UK too.

  • Thanks both.

Does it not lock the region once set then?

  • Does it not lock the region once set then?

From memory it lets you change the region in the settings. Or you can just delete and reinstall the app and go through the setup process to select the region.

  • What's gone on with the price of the G4 models?

The G4 went from £3399 to £3999 then back down to £3299

The G4i went from £3999 to £4999 and stayed there?

The difference between the models seems to have gone from £600 to £1700. I like the idea of the G4i but not for another £1700.

  • Liz put the 2022 miles in 2022 on her Gazelle today. When she got it it was just ride to work once maybe twice a week. Now it’s pretty much every day and for as much as she can. She is crushing it.

  • Right on! 2,022mi on an NL is a feat!

  • Have to say, since moving I've used my wife's grail:ON for hauling and trips and god ebikes are even better than i thought. I'd quite like my own now.

  • I think it would be a MTB, more use, then just put trailer on.

  • Anyone know what rental e-bike fits best for taller riders? Or are they are more or less the same?

Tried a Dot bike recently - with the saddle as high as it went was still uncomfortable and mildly comedic. Am 6'2 so not exceptionally tall.

  • Say I wanted to fit a motor to a steel bike, what would i buy?

  • Bafang mid drive kit of the Bay.

  • I recommend Swytch once per page or so, this is a front wheel kit.

  • Thanks but needs to be BB mounted

    Cheers @Squircle

  • I got mine (a Tongsheng) from pswpower with a battery, was cheap and came in a couple of days

  • Bafang is BB mounted!

  • Cadence sensor though not as good as torque sensing.

  • All I know is that the two friends that have them are big fans, from ease of installation to smooth power up to dependability in all weathers.
