For that Hunter S Thompson vibe

anyone used croaks whilst riding? Do they get in the way of the helmet at the back etc and become annoying? I'm tired of dropping my sunglasses :-(

I've got some Oakley Jawbreakers that are slightly tight on the sides. Is there a way to make them a bit wider without damaging them? Literally just needs to be marginally wider to be comfortable on my big fat head.

Glasses wearers of LFGSS...a random question if I may?
I've lost too many pairs of sunglasses while climbing to remember. Most lately I watched my sunglasses bounce down a 30m cliff before my friend at the bottom yelled "you dropped your glasses...they're fucked!" back up at me. Useful, thanks mate!
Anybody have any recommendations for a glasses lanyard that would stop such a thing happening? Ideally it'd need to be long enough for me to take my glasses off and let them hang rather than just hold them tight on my face.
eBay is full of fragile looking £2 jobs...would one of those be ok or will it just snap with first use?

Used while sailing. Presume work fine for hills too.

Has anyone used http://www.rxsport.co.uk? I need to replace my trashed pair of daily glasses and have always gone through my local optician, but they are being irritating and slow with the model that I want and they are in stock on http://www.rxsport.co.uk, but I've never ordered prescription glasses online. Are there any obvious pitfalls I need to avoid?

I ordered some prescription Oakley Jawbreakers through them, no problems whatsoever.

yep also Jawbreakers, pricey but they are good.

Any suggestions for sunglasses (for an adult) that are resistant to a small child twisting them, dropping them on the floor, etc but don't look like I'm about to head out to do some sports?

Usually with plastic arms you can heat them with a hairdryer and then carefully bend once the plastic is a little softened (this is all the machines in opticians do)
Edit: didn't realise how dredged this reply was

Had my eye test and now I finally have reached the stage where I need specs.
Can anyone recommend an affordable alternative to Oakley Centreboards please as I like a clear acrylic frame? I don’t want anything spendy as I work with special needs kids so they’re bound to get pulled off my face and mangled at some point.
Any recommended online retailers for frames and lenses? My local independent had an amazing selection but he’s had to shut down due to illness and the only bricks and mortar shops near me are chain ones.
Thanks.

Shuron Sidewinder or Freeway for some original vibes.
Moscot Lemtosh or Yontif or Dudel for some interpretations. -

What's affordable to you? The Oakleys are like 50 quid which is pretty cheap

Where does them for £50?

I haven't looked past a 2 second Google
Lenses are on top but there's a discount code on frames

Cubitts?
£125 frames and lenses
Depends on your price brackets.Select Specs do some insane cheap stuff (£6 pair)
Had some in the past (not £6, but maybe in the £30 range) all good -

Thanks all, went with The Glasses Company for frames and lenses. £71 for their “silver package” lenses, much more reasonable than the £200+ the highs street chain wanted.

I don't know how high street chains are still going. Online prices are so wildly cheaper. I got my frames for about £140 online, vision express wanted £265

I’m ready for varifocal, fuck me the cost though
-

Same here. Got quoted scary monies for proper varifocals a few places. I went with a “digital lens” from Cubitts, I’m a bit vague on the difference between this and the full varifocals… I think instead of a fully smooth transition across distance, medium and close, it’s basically a normal distance lens with a bit of your reading prescription at the bottom.
Was way cheaper than the alternative. Got me a pair of the digital lenses and pair of prescription sunnies for £400. Not sure how much different it is from the real deal but it’s certainly a big improvement from my old situation

Walking down stairs is a bit trippy. Pun intended

I've got some Cubitts glasses, have a friend who works there so got them cheap, but not overly impressed by the quality of the frames.

I've had a pair of Cubitts for years and they're still going strong! Although I snapped the original pair in half when I was cleaning the lenses. No questions asked replacement even though they were outside the year warranty.
Got these clipon, flipup from Amazon. Not a perfect match to my glasses but close enough. The mechanism feels nice and sturdy. Am happy.
