SSDGSC (singlespeed disc gravel super-commuter)
Finally got it back from the blasters and did the routing for the rear dynamo. The roads are so bad on parts of my commute that they require a bike such as this. Cba to paint it

Thunder Burt if you can find them. One of best 26"tyres ever. They shame slicker tyres into the sunset.
Hands down of the best tyres I've ever used. -

Rtp?
Something trap pass?
Edit: Rat trap pass I assumed? £82 a tyre can get out tho

This is very nice. What is it?
Edit: Day One with something something fork?

Thank you. It’s a Day One with Thorn MK3 forks.

strong choice, I had the non folding ones and they were great.
Speed King's were the best 26" tyre imo, but they stopped making them it seems

On a similar note for 26ers, has anyone tried Continental double fighters? Its quite dry most of the year here so not so bothered about serious tread, and they look ok for tarmac too.
-

They are quite weighty as I recall. I'd only get them if you'd like the added puncture protection over something like the Billy Bonkers.
-
• #25288
Yep, Double Fighters very heavy and stiff.
I've tried a lot of 26" tyres, and the Rat Trap Pass Extralight piss all over everything else in my experience. Unbelievably fast, squidgy and grippy on tarmac/#nogravel. Run them tubeless.
Billy Bonkers are OK, but I prefer Maxxis DTH 2.3 folding-bead; the extra volume lets you run lower pressures for more squidge.
Maxxis Ikon also a good option if you like a bit more tread. Be warned that there are myriad versions of these!

The continental speed king is my go to if you can push towards 2.2. They like a wider rim profile, but no doubt they are super quick. The tiny bit of tread on the shoulders makes a big difference compared to a full slick too. Just wish they were tubeless.

ah good to know, not sure the weight is a massive issue as half my rides these days include a 13kg 2yr old bolted on the back of the bike, plus my 90s Mavic rims are not wide enough to put much more than a 1.9/2" on.... Thanks for the feedback
-
• #25291
Yeah they are not the minimal 90s XC tyres of the same name! Fine (and cheap) for casual use on tarmac and light off-road though.
-
• #25292
Thats a shame.
26" stuff is getting harder and harder now, esp the rim brake wheels/rims. Maybe I'll check for a suitable thread and see whats the recommendation on different rims
-
• #25293
Let us know if you find anything - 26 inch options are getting quite thin it seems
-
• #25295
Billy Bonkers are OK, but I prefer Maxxis DTH 2.3
DTH are really good, but Billy Bonkers are called Billy Bonkers so they're better.

• #25297
Never a truer word spoken.

Tyres? Loads of options still about, in fact there's more choice than before if you count boujis wanker tyres.
Rims also; loads of new wider models out there

Lost one of the few relatively smooth
They've done this to a lovely smooth road near me that they'd only freshly tarmaced last year. Can't understand why. Slow people down?
Billy bonkers, or Vittoria barzo/mezcal if you want a bit more tread.
