Here’s a dumb question - are the pros braking at all in corners? I always never do. Just do all my braking before taking the corner (very slowly), which will contribute to me taking longer to go down a col than they take going up.

It's the only explanation I've got... I guess you have to brake if you're behind someone because the draft effect is so significant.

Awesome vid btw!

To be fair, whomever the arkea rider is, isn't a particularly good descender.

Thank you for posting this! Was going to try and hunt down a highlights reel of him descending and now I don't have to

I particulalrly like the braking and then the dip under his elbow.

Q: is there an audio commentary only feed I can listen in via? So I can pretend I'm listening to music whilst working without suffering Eurosport commentary with no images but hammering my data as it is a video stream.

I haven't listened to it but Radio Tour could satisfy your needs (edit: assuming you are fluent in French!)?
-
• #41587
Gosh that’s lovely. Listening now. Works well chirping in over some ambient/ASMR.
They translate most of the updates.

GCSE grade B back in 1993, then nowt since so no.
I guess so long as I can pick out names it'll give me an idea of what's going on.

“Roglic dropped” is coming through on the radio. No idea what’s going on. Blissed out.

I hear you. I think this might be my new way of consuming the Tour.
Going to definitely give that above NTS link a spin after today's action.

OK this is the combo: Radio Tour tuned in over low-tempo/ambient with muted Eurosport on another desktop, just a three-finger swipe away when you hear a significant update. Dream set-up.

Ganna for the win? Ride on the front for the next 100k then ride away with 50k to go.
Alpecin getting punished by their DS for missing the break. -

I think they want to engineer a sprint today, and a large group like that would’ve been hard to bring back, so they decided to close it down as quickly as they could.
Still, the break up the road is going to be hard to bring back given the composition.

Camper vans can get fucked. Entitled parasites who contribute almost nothing to the local economy. They way they are lugging around an entire studio apartment with the help of fossil fuels effectively make them into a global swarm of tiny little cruise ships.
The sudden burst of speed from Pidcock on the overtake was really impressive. On first impression it looks like he speeds up by leaning further in, but I guess in reality he probably let off his brakes a bit compared to the Arkea rider and then leaned more to compensate.

There were a few amazing corners on the Croix de Fer descent too
