  • I shall fill the feeders with sunflower hearts and then the pigeons will start hoovering up the dropped seeds. It is less than twelve metres and up hill from my sniper point. The end of the garden is 45 metres away and about 2.5 metres higher. There is no chance that any pellet will leave the boundary of my garden. The photo of my neighbour's roof yesterday evening. I think 47 birds were present. If only he had paid the little extra and had his panel gaps blocked off this wouldn't be necessary.

  • The joys of Bagshot sand. It doesn't retain the moisture.

  • Urban lawns don't need watering. When it's hot and dry they will go a bit brown. They will soon be green again when it rains.

    Watering a lawn is a waste of water and energy on an epic scale.
