I've got it for some reason, probably professionally related. All that happened when I logged in as a gold member was they added 5-10% to the online prices. Didn't use it after that.

Out with @NorthLondonLight yesterday, Kew to Windsor, around Walton, we saw a light green, small convertible. As we caught up with it, it turned right into a petrol station making the id even easier.
A Porsche 968.
Didn't know they came as factory convertibles. -

Insurance assessor came out, first thing he checked was the mapping. The car had been remapped by a previous owner. The current owner, apparently, wasn’t aware.
Is there any way of checking this out by yourself? Mines not high performance in any way, but the sad owners FB group I'm on suggest lots of people do it for better engine performance/efficiency.

The car hire prices certainly put me off hiring from Hertz/Avis/Budget recently. I ended up doing a 5 day trip (that wouldn't have worked by train) via Zipcar at ~£100/day.
But the upcoming 2 weeks in Cornwall can fuck off with its £1500 rental car quotes. We can get there for ~£100 return on the train (plus a £30 taxi each way) and then most stuff is within walking distance or bus when we are there, and for the second week we'll be at the in-laws so will have some access to a car.

Christ. I haven't rented a car since 2016, which was a Devon and Cornwall holiday. Just looked that up - £290 for 8 days, brand new Hyundai i40 estate that they dropped off at my house and collected from my house after.

I’ve no idea. I had my EGR valve removed which is a remap but not for performance or economy.
-
• #71758
So what was your rational for doing it? Just fancied worse emissions, lol.
-
• #71759
Ah one that was 'lost' ones. One of the reason I chose lynx as a name.
-
• #71760
Lol. Nope. The EGR failed and replacement was very costly. Removal was a little cheaper.
-
• #71761
That makes a lot more sense tbf.
-
• #71762
EGR replacement was around £1300. Blank plates - £3.99 and remap to take ERG out was around £130 - from memory. Big difference and the car is 15 years old and not worth a great deal.

R8 1100 with a few Gordini bits for sale on the renault classic car forum
R8 Gordini project for sale, 1964 R1132 1100cc R8 with lots of history back to order form and bill of sale etc, car has done 33,000 miles from new and drives very well. Included in sale is 1420cc forged piston R5 Gordini engine with electronic ignition, high lift cam, head all cleaned and ported (engine not even been run yet) and also comes with Alpine A110-1400 block (including correct Alpine camshaft for rear engine application), 4 into 2 Gordini manifold and Devil exhaust. 1 x R5 ATMO 5 speed gearbox with R10-1300 gearbox for casing donor (required for rear engine application), genuine Gordini NOS rack bar with deep teeth (still in wax coating). I have just fitted the rebuilt R1134 (1100 Gordini) dashboard with rebuilt correct speedo and tacho by Jaeger specialist in France but also includes original R1133 standard dashboard complete. Car is fitted with 4 x MK2 Cosmic wheels with all correct centre caps and clips and are running 145/80/13 TOYO tires so same gearing as standard 15” wheels, the car also comes with the original set of 5 standard wheels/tires and hubcaps. To complete the transformation are a set of NOS Gordini headlamps, rims and good used headlamp bowls (these are still in original Renault box and not some cheap repro product). Car has never been stripped apart or welded and I cannot find and ‘softening of metal’ but is showing ageing of the metallic paint on the roof, bonnet and engine bay lid but still very presentable. £15000 ONO

Other than me forgetting to lock it (unlikely but possible) how can someone get in to my 2020 Skoda, rifle through the crap I leave in there, then get wildly frustrated at the lack of stashed away Rolex under the seats only to steal my iPhone charge cable in a fit of pique due to the aforementioned volume of crap and nothing else of note - without the car alarm going off?

Just admit to your wife you lost the cable. It's not worth it.

All manufacturers are planning this. It's been something the largest auto group on the planet have been discussing since at least 2015 when I was working on some marketing stuff.
It's so much more cost effective to ship with these things in all cars and then charge subscriptions or software unlock than custom build cars to customer spec.
There was even talk of shipping with chipped engines capable of increasing or decreasing power if you fancied going on a spirited drive at the weekend. I can see this one being implemented in electric cars as it's super easy to limit power.
i hear you dude. 3 year old mitsubishi is testament enough
