  • Do 2nd hand Omnium Cargo Classics hold their value? Reason for asking, come October I have some parental leave with our 9-10month old and from reading here and a very quick try-out, I'm keen on finding a used Omnium Cargo + Thule bracket, Yepp Maxi seat. Downside: feels a bit decadent as have a Thorn 26" tourer and am not loaded but on the upside I imagine the Cargo is more fun than the Thorn, kid facing back to you is nice and the bike holds it value pretty well (does it?) so wouldn't lose too much when time to go back to Thorn and be a bit more serious.... Thanks for any advice, I'm voicing my internal doubts out loud/trying to find reasons not to etc....

  • Would recommend trying out such a setup first, my kid hated facing backwards or in the front but loves sitting in seat behind me. Different stroke’s, there is no universal setup and kids are weird.

  • This is very true, my youngest loved sitting in the bullit whilst I built it, couldn't wait to get in it for a ride, but first trip didn't go great and she would have a panic attack (spontaneously throw up) on mere sight of it for a whole year. I gave her a 4 month break from any attempts and ever since she gave it another shot slightly older she's loved it, years later her little sister never had an issue.
Couldn't be happier with the bike but for that year I sincerely wished id taken her out for test rides on every config possible and gotten her feedback directly at the time.

  • Cheers, I really appreciate this and @boisb 's story too. It's shifted my thinking a bit which is what I needed - there's too much that could just go very differently from how I imagine.... First kid as well so maybe I should play around with what we have first. Thanks!
