Sorry, should have been clearer - looking for a hot weather base layer, so merino is probably out
-

Lightweight merino is excellent in hot weather.

Yes, it's perfect, if you can stop the moths getting it.

Any drummers on the forum? Any recommendations for a decent double pedal that's not going to cost a million quid? Happy to go second hand.

I’ve heard this but everything merino I’ve ever had has been too hot in hot weather so not convinced - I don’t think it’s what I’d put on for a turbo session, say…
-
• #113359
Best hot weather base layer is just your skin under a jersey, though. (For a turbo session, I prefer a loose top).

Sad it's so empty. Would likely be as fuel efficient for those people to drive their cars 😔
Still, I'm sure they make up for it at busier times of day.

How do I go about getting a private MRI scan for a fucked knee ligament?
It’s been a week since I was seen by NHS specialist who prescribed an MRI scan, but the appointment hasn’t materialised, could be weeks.
In the mean time, I’m freaking out about permanent damage.
Never had any private medical treatments before, no idea where to start...

We've moved into a flat that comes with a shared storage area in the basement, it's permanently at 70% humidity, is that too high for bikes to live in?
-
• #113363
The way I've seen it work, you get a referral from a private doctor to an MRI scanning service (maybe part of a private hospital). Normally you pay for the private doctors appointment, to get that appointment you're normally registered with them on an annual retainer.
-
• #113364
You could drop by urgent care and wait to be seen.

The annual average-ish UK low humidity is about 70% and high humidity in the low 90s% so I'd say a permanent 70% is quite good. A periodic wipe with an oily rag wouldn't do any harm anyway.

I'm only a baby drummer so I can't answer your question but I am bumping it in the hope that there will turn out to be a significant secret community of drummers here that will justify us getting our own thread, and then maybe I can stop peering enviously through the window of the guitar thread at all the fretboard fanatics peeping happily and sociably to one another like a tragic musical urchin *mournfulviolins

Looks like I'll have to do this anyway as the NHS doctor wrote my painkiller prescription out wrong... Thanks, will try to ask for a sooner scan.

Sounds like a lot of faff... Thanks though.

It needs to be ultralight, and 90-100% merino, not a polyester mix. I'm not sure that cycling clothing companies make such things. They are expensive and wear out quickly. I got this one https://www.icebreaker.com/en-gb/mens-baselayers/bodyfitzone-merino-150-zone-short-sleeve-crewe-thermal-top/104346.html?dwvar_104346_color=351 for touring and wore it as my only layer for cycling in 40+ C. Just right. And it never smells.

Some physiotherapists can refer for private MRIs, might be a slightly easier route. My da got his done in around a week.

It sucks that you'll have to return to get a Mri, got mine at St Thomas if it helps, love them to bits!

Great, thank you!

It sounds like you're a bit further along than when I had this issue (my GP didn't see constant pain and an inability to walk more than 100 metres without needing to sit down as an issue worthy of referral).
I needed to see a private specialist to get a referral for an MRI and which bits needed scanning, I then booked in an MRI here https://www.alliancemedical.co.uk/scan-centres/london-harley-street-european-scanning , and they gave the results back to me on a CD which I then took back to the specialist.
If you've already got an NHS specialist who says you need an MRI you might be able to skip a lot of that.

I got one up by waterloo when I fucked my knee years ago. If I recall, I just bugged my GP to give me the referral and booked the MRI myself.
Well, yep
