After some quick lanes - and I mean quick, the 990 doesn’t know how to go slow - a little pit stop then home before it got too hot.

Motorcycle tyres need much much lower pressure than your bicycle, so yeah, get a track pump.

Ladies and gents, anyone disposes of a cheap reliable motorcycle in London?
By cheap, I mean really cheap, as I’ve just got a bike stolen and it will probably take another month to settle the finance. Let’s see, I maybe have £600 now and perhaps could stretch to another £2k in two weeks.
I thought I’d ask here before either getting a lemon off eBay or a Chinese replica later. As much as the Funduro looks well, fun, I can’t travel to the sea side now to look at it. -

Well, yeah, I have a track pump but which I use to inflate all my vehicle tyres but didn't think to spend that much time and effort pumping them up to seat the bead when I have a compressor sitting right next to me.
I admit it still doesn't quite compute in my head since I've been pumping up tyres for so long with the track pump but as soon as it came to seating the bead I reached for the compressor.

I found a video of a redneck tyre change.
Truck to break the bead. Crowbars for tyre levers. Then valve core out and track pump to seat the bead.
Gonna give it a shot when the time comes (hopefully Sunday). Nothing to loose.
Really would love a compressor tho.
And a proper garage.
Ideally double.

More volume tho, on tubeless compressor.

Any bright ideas for getting the last third over the line?
Better to do it warm tomorrow?

OK. Bedtime. Let's see if I have any luck tomorrow with a warm tyre.
Fingers crossed for excruciating sun.

Like a cycle tyre, get the tyre in to the center dip of the wheel. Lube and manipulation.
-
• #21513
Was going to say, more lube worked for me in that situation. Although I felt like I'd wrestled a bear after doing 2.
-

Moar lube is always the answer.

I can’t see a track pump ever seating a bead. Even garage airlines are shite. You need a lot of air, fast.
-
• #21516
On a tubed tyre?
-
• #21517
As above. When you think you’ve put so much soapy water it couldn’t possibly need more lube… douse it. Douse it like you wanna drown it in lube.

I probably should have got some tyre fitting paste.
I've been using window cleaner on the basis that it should evaporate.
Getting the beads into the middle is tricky now there is a fat valve nut in the way.
Going to have a crack at lunchtime. Otherwise I'm going to have to work out a way to get it to a garage.
Also quite worried about the 3M tape getting punctured by the tyre levers. I now wish I'd got the 2mm instead of the 1mm.

Unless the council come round to respond to complaints that the street is like an ice rink, it’s not lubed enough.
-

When people say fairy liquid, do they mean neat?
And whether it's diluted or not how does the excess liquid inside evaporate?
-
• #21521
With some water but not much.
Heat.

Beadseat in the centre as best I could + sun + moar lube =

Seated the tyre with my track pump, so that's good to know.
Now comes the moment(s) of truth, while I get it all soapy and leave it to see if it holds air.
Still really prang that I've dinged the Sealing Tape.

Ah sorry, thought we were talking
tubeless. -

When is the explodey technique applicable? When you spray something flammable in there and light a match?
I was lucky enough to get tipped off on that but it's partly experience that I like to spend a long time sizing up a job on my bike.
