I am converting my spoked motorcycle wheels to tubeless. The process I'm going with is:
Loctite 290 Threadlocker (Wicking Grade) dripped into the spoke/nipples
3M Extreme Sealing Tape over the nipples in the rim bed
I have some slight rusting, more crazing, around some of the spokes. Unfortunately it's quite hard to photo because of the shiny chrome vs the black rim.
My questions are these:
Do we think these small areas of rust need to be dealt with before applying the 3M tape?
What rust product / process would you use? (bearing in mind we need an oil free surface and any possible risk of some of the product being left in the nipple thread)
Thought I'd open this up to the hive mind.
