Tonal Balance Control, in the Advanced package, is the killer feature. But at those prices elements/standard are well worth it.

Yeah that's great

Massive longshot here, but is there anyone working in any general area of music production on here that would be up for having a 17yr old in for a week's work experience (or knows of anyone/anywhere that might be worth tying)? Would need to be south London. He's a reasonably presentable A level Music Tech student - happy to make tea etc - just to be in the environment.

Not bothering with that myself as I'm trying to spend little to nothing on music stuff these days!
5 days later Eventide Blackhole is on sale for €30. Well it was nice while it lasted!

Blackhole is too good. Despite having a Space pedal and the software plugin I still picked up the Blackhole pedal when one came up locally for a good price.
-
• #3232
I was considering getting a space pedal, primarily for the blackhole effect. Do you think it's worth it over the dedicated pedal? Will be using it line level.
-
• #3233
I think for synth stuff in a home/studio situation the Space is worth it. There are so many good algorithms, it can fill so many roles, from conventional plate reverbs to stuff like the ModEchoVerb which is more of a “feature” effect.
The Blackhole pedal is more aimed at guitarists with the true bypass switching and simple preset system. But it’s still a great pedal to pair with a single synth or in a live setup as a send effect.

Anyone with any Izotope Advanced plug in can pick up isotope everything for £199
Not such a good deal for me as I have nearly everything anyway, but my mate only had RX9 so got everything else for a snip…csb -

Just picked up a Torso T1 algorhythmic sequencer. Anyone using one? It's really deep. Early days but struggling slightly to get any decent Techno lines out sequencing the Make Noise 0 Coast

Does anyone know if there's a way to fudge or workaround getting more than 8 macros in Live 10? Can you chain racks or something like that? I've started having a play again after a long while away and all the stuff I'm watching now is for Live 11, will upgrade at some point but can't justify it right now for a 'nice to have'.
-
• #3237
You can group racks I guess you could get around it that way?
-
• #3238
Limit should be 16 now? That's what the "+/-" are for.
:EDIT: D'oh I see you're using 10 specifically. nvm

Finally caved and bought a piece of Elektron gear - a Model Cyles for $180USD was just too good to pass up.
-
• #3240
Model:Cycles is worth it just for the kick engine. Slamming.

I have an MS-20 for nasty kicks, but loving the Cycles for modern Techno basses and FM percussions.
-
• #3242
Having had a couple hours with it, I'm impressed with how intuitive it is - I was able to make the simple sounds I was looking for going in blind. I'm excited to learn more of the deeper features later.

A signature trait of Elektron gear is that once you get the basics down it really rewards you for thinking “hm, what if I use thing X to modulate thing Y and p-lock thing Z at the same time”. There are lots of corners to explore that aren’t explicitly pointed out to you.

Ikea studio gear...

I think the chair must be designed for the Maxell Ad Guy

Do like the under desk MIDI keyboard bit though. Was tempted to DIY something similar to my existing desk. But then I just decided that the keyboard should just be a permanent feature there instead.

Yeah, I'm starting to get an idea of how deep the sequencer can go. Full house this weekend, so the plan is to hold up in my bedroom with the Cycles and try make some City Centre Offices-type downtempo/IDM on it.
:edit: This didn't end up happening - I blew my weekend making Trance patches on the Mininova instead.

Following up on my problems with Ableton running Native Instruments stuff on an M1 Mac Studio. They seem to have solved the problem. Not seeing above 40% cpu at the moment.

Warming to see some love for Elektron. I have had the SFX6 from the first year it was out and have MD, Analog 4 and Oktatrack. I do wish I had synths with one knob/button per function sometimes though.
Just looked at prices for the SFX60 MKII which I've had 2 of and sold for £600! Crazy, who has made these so desirable?

SOPHIE for one.

I still don't have much love for Elektron outside of this one box really - the other modern boxes seem very spendy for what they offer and there's a somewhat obnoxious cult-like obsession with them in my local scene that's fostered an unpleasant association with the brand in me.
Wouldn't mind messing around with a MM/MD combo someday though:
To be fair the Elements > Standard upgrade is down to £45 for anyone interested. Not bothering with that myself as I'm trying to spend little to nothing on music stuff these days!
