  • Gonna switch to iPhone for a change as I've never had one and my current phone is from 2017, has a shot battery and annoying screen burn-in - as long as I have a decent camera and probably more than 64gb of space I'm happy so I'm ok getting an older model refurbished. I'd wanted to spend around £300 or less but I didn't reckon with how much pricier they are compared to Androids of the same vintage so I'm looking at:

    11, 128gb, £310
    11 Pro, 256gb, £370

Extra £60 worth it for the Pro third camera, nicer screen and double the storage space? Bit more than I wanted to spend tbh, have spent so long dithering I can't tell if that's a bargain I'm silly to pass up or I should just stick to a budget and be happy with what I can get at that range.

  • probably, I'll always pay a bit more for more storage and better condition.
I've got a 3yr old 256gb XS, which is still going strong, and paid about £400 for it.

I feel like I should upgrade, as I cracked the screen soon after purchase, but it still does what I want it to, it's a decent size, and the appeal of another lens on a phone camera doesn't really appeal.

  • Answering my own question from earlier. Looks like pre-orders for the M2 MacBook Air start on Friday 8th July.

..I'd pay the extra £60 for double the storage alone.
The display of the Pro is nicer (and also can go brighter, which is really great if you're outside a lot).
The camera has an extra "portrait" lens, which I think is very nice to have.
The Pro is also stainless steel, which looks rather cool 🙂

    tl;dr get the Pro

  • tl;dr get the Pro

  • Cheers all, I think I was just second guessing it thinking I was talking myself into upgrades I don't actually need again, but tbh I value a nice display alone and the extra 128gb is a good bonus. Just wish the Pro colours weren't so conservative and muted and that I could have one in purple like the base 11! Guess I'll buy a lairy case to make up for it.

  • anyone interested in a silver, 2020 ipad pro 128gb, wifi?

Its my main device so im getting an m1 one for stage manager..

was 749, is in amazing condition
    apple trade in is 250
    ebay is 400-450
    wil ltake 350

  • In a similar vein, I've just upgraded to an M1 Max MBP, so looking to pass on the following:

    16" MacBook Pro 2019, Silver, Intel i9 CPU, 32GB RAM, 2TB SSD, 8GB 5500M GPU.

In as-new physical condition, not a single mark. Even the feet are spotless. I mostly used it at home on a desk, so battery is in great condition. With original packaging and all accessories.

  • ...on this topic, I’m now looking for a sleeve for this new 16” MBP. My existing ‘Acme Made’ one is slightly too tight for it.

Recommendations for something nice and zipless?

  • Was going to recommend the Woolnut ones - it seems they don't have ones for the new (thicker) MBP's yet though.

But for anybody that has one of the older 12 / 13 / 15" models - they do have a proper summer sale right now with like 50% off -

  • The Apple leather one. Really nice and good value for money

  • Do they make one for the 2021 16" MBP? Can't find it on Apple's website...

  • Seems like it’s sold out everywhere 🤷‍♂️

  • Thanks, they do have sleeves for the 16” 2021 MBP. Spenny but look cute.

  • Have mine for two years now and it's still looking really good.

They point out that with their design (opening at a short side) it's possible to charge the MacBook while in the sleeve - personally I don't really need this, but what I've found is that a lot less dust etc. ends up on the screen / keyboard compared to the ones open on a long side (like the Apple or Harber ones for example)..

  • Feel like I've been cursed trying to buy an 11 Pro! Went to get the one I first mentioned and it sold out as it was in my basket. Then found a similar price from Envirofone and went to get that only for my card to get flagged for suspicious activity and frozen (then when I got it sorted they refused to deal with me even after I phoned them and said they'd marked my account as suspicious for a few days). Then as I was getting ready for bed I saw one elsewhere, but it turned out their sale ended the next day and it went back up in price.
Think I'll just either get a normal 11 and spend the difference on a brand new battery, or get a 12 Mini.

  • get a 12 Mini

    .

  • If you’re not in a rush, iPhone 14 will be released in September, will likely mean a reduction in price for the previous models.

  • get a 12 Mini.

    is a good choice

  • Love my 12 mini, got it Nov '20 so it's coming up 2 years old and have no reason to change it once it's paid for.

  • I could struggle on and saving a bit more is tempting, but the battery on this phone is so crap now that I can't get anywhere near a full day out of it so if I go anywhere I have to think about where I'll charge it. All I've done today is watched about 20 minutes of YouTube in bed, listened to a podcast for 30 minutes and a bit of normal browsing and it's at 33% at lunchtime. I know the 12 Mini isn't exactly known for great battery life but surely it's not as bad as that.

  • Not sure then if you would like the 12 mini. It does seem to appeal to people who primarily want a phone. I use mine for streaming music to a speaker for 8 hours some days but otherwise it's calls/texts minimal surfing the web. I do everything else on bigger devices.
