Western Terrace, that's the one. We weren't in the most raucous bit by any stretch, but by 5ish a lot of people had lost control and were just being dicks.

Sorry, I keep forgetting that test cricket is only being played in England.

I'm only half serious.
The balmy army and the trumpets are wank though.
And Michael Vaughan. He's a bulb

I always sit the other side of the grounds from the Western Terrace/Hollies; fuck going anywhere near that shit

Vaughan stepping away from the BBC?! I wonder what he's done/said now...

There were some issues raised as a result of the investigation into racism at Yorkshire and the generally poor culture whilst he was there.

So no love for the women’s game then?
2 x 100’s in the test against SA.
Women’s cricket isn’t a sideshow, wish they would show it more on the tv. -

I thought I’d read that test cricket was not in the ECB blueprint for women’s cricket but I can find the article now.

Enjoying listening to it, have been to see a couple of the Women's one day/T20 games when Surrey play at various local club grounds near us too. Would be down to Taunton to watch this if it was on during the holidays, but starting a test on a Monday doesn't really work due to work/school/etc.
I think the Women's game is really on the up and it will start to pick up over the next few years. A lot of the time I'm scoring/herding as MiniGB is playing in a local U12 girls league (and has played against another LFGSS-er's daughter) and they're loving it - some great cricket being played.
The interview with the ICC chairman was a bit of a shitshow. I'm sure the women's game doesn't rake in the cash like the men's game does but that's not the fucking point right now. Listening to the commentary today many of the existing players want to play more test cricket, and they can barely play much less than they are playing now, and the ICC Chairman's view was just "Meh".

Ladies cricket is the future

Matt Prior had a good article/podcast recently about how inaccessible it can be for any kids that begin to show promise at their local club: https://talksport.com/sport/cricket/1063374/matt-prior-calls-english-cricket-children/
Even for MiniGB playing in a local U12 girls league it can be quite a pain in the arse to get to some of the local games without having a car. (#firstworldproblem I know)

I have no interest in the women's game, not for any reason other than I don't have room for it. Over the years, I've lost interest in the whole of the county game, professional cycling other than the TdF non-PL football and a bunch of other things, sporting and otherwise, and never taken an interest in new developments (competitions, races, whatever)- not through making any conscious decisions, just that life gets in the way so much there's been no time to keep up.
Getting into a new sport, or even another aspect of one you're already into, is time-consuming, and a lot of people just don't have the luxury. I hope the women's game keeps growing and being taken more seriously, and if there's ever an Ireland game on the telly and I've got a few minutes to watch us be beaten horribly, I'll take it, but the time investment to get properly into it isn't there.
I think my point is that the women's game faces challenges that aren't paternalism/misogyny related, but it's a bit garbled as I'm rushing to join a meeting.

Jos Butler the new white ball captain for England following Morgan’s retirement from international cricket. Fully expecting Morgan to join the coaching setup as England head into the next World Cup cycle.

India batting line up does feel a bit light.
Still a serious amount of talent, as always.

Ah
More Western Terrace history:
1996: Derek Fatchett, the Labour MP for Leeds Central, was in the crowd and had no doubt that the trouble was racially motivated.
"I think there are members of the far right here who have come over from Elland Road," he said. "The only answer is the closure of the Western Terrace - it is a slum.
https://www.independent.co.uk/sport/cricket-trouble-at-headingley-a-threat-to-test-status-1309324.html
2012, Nasser Hussain: "I sense an atmosphere that is not very nice and I certainly wouldn’t want to sit with my family in the Western Terrace.
We get a lot of emails in the studio from people whose day at Leeds has been ruined by yobs and there really does seem to be more of an alcohol-inspired environment
at Headingley than anywhere else."
