In other news, here's where the Singular is at today. Tbh with how far mtbs have moved on, it's basically a flat bar gravel bike.
Need to shorten the hoses a tad and harvest the other tyre from the remains of the kona. Yes I know they're gravel wheels but we all survived on 20mm internal rims a few years ago
Sorry for phone pics

'kinhell! I take it you were aboard the Kona at the time the damage was inflicted? Hope there is some recourse to claim something from the guilty party. Not sure how much of the front end I'd trust to use again, apart from the tyre and lights!

Gravel bikes are just xc mountain bikes

FFS! hope you're ok and not too traumatised!
and I hope whoever did it gets what's coming... -

Yea I was very much aboard.
I'm holding fire on claim stuff until I've got a bit more legal info on my position and the evidence available, as there's potentially a criminal element (on their side) to it which might affect things. I don't really know how much more I can say (ie post on the internet) at this point.
Forks are f**ked, bent right and back.
There's a crack in the paint about 5mm down from the downtube/head tube weld on the frame, not investigated further than that but yeah, I don't trust it even with a new fork. It's probably the most overbuilt f+f I've ridden too, so seems like big forces involved. -

Thanks, need to get back on the horse as soon as my body is up to it.

I know of someone who snagged one, a bit rough but complete + with good paint, for twenty quid off marketplace a couple of months ago.
I was seething.

Also, I'll be in the market soon I hope for a very normal bike to ride to work on. Pref steel, 56/57cm ish, enough room for 32mm+ tyres with guards etc, if anyone has something they're considering parting with?

So I was saying to Maj that it's a bit of a Normie Normington build atm. Basically a hybrid but way less practical.
That fork is FLEXY
Need to sort hoses out a bit and trim the bars down a touch. Maybe a slightly longer stem in the old-school xc image.

Steel fork (salsa cromoto) seems to have sorted it

So this is going to replace the kona.
It's hard to describe how bad the colour is irl.
But to the mandatory top tube ping it feels/sounds a little bit livelier than the kona, which is no bad thing.
Plan is to get some forks made, build it up similarly, and then get a fresh coat of powder down the line if I like it

Thanks guys. The mental side of it is trickier than the physical at the moment.
A few more pics for the mortality-minded.
Bonus points for spotting the tyre marks on the forks.
