• One week after leaving hospital, still no booze, and I've eaten many more fruit and veg, and a whole lot less cheese and processed meat. I've been exercising, going for long walks and mowed the lawn.

  • Don’t worry about the first week, as a lot of the 3kg you would have lost would have been temporary, so being 200g less is pretty good going.

    Really good to change the content of what you’re eating, I would recommend working out how many calories what you’re eating comes to.

    If you were gaining 500g a week previous to your health scare, you would have been eating about 500 calories too much a week.

    You would need to cut 500 calories to maintain weight, and a further 500 calories to lose 500g a week.

    Replacing processed meats and cheese for fruit and veg will reduce calories for sure, but knowing how much is a useful piece of info.
