Like I said, its rubber, not leather.

Be interesting to see what the difference between their and Brooks rubber is.

Frogleggs mentioned at post #94 😀

So they were!

I noticed you cut the steere flush, Are you going for fork mounted cable hanger?
-
• #182
There’s a spacer in there that will be replaced with a 2.5mm tall cable hanger that I have ordered from Rivendell.

What is the issue with this photo?
I was sent three left facing pads and one right facing pad with this set of brakes.... it'll work but it looks cack. Have messaged the seller.................
Also, the thing that is going to hold up this entire build up now is going to be the bloody seat bolt and headtube mounted cable hangers. I got a tracking no. from Rivendell on Wednesday but it says USPS don't have the package yet. Hoping that USPS's tracking is wrong and that it was in fact dispatched on Wednesday 😭😭😭😭😭

Bummer on both counts.
Just get some koolstops and be done with it, maybe ask seller for a slight refund? -

I didn't buy these brakes to not have all matching XTR pad holders. Think this guy has a big parts collection so I am hoping its an innocent mistake.
'I have a complete set of XTR m900s including original straddle cables and all the correct hardware in excellent condition'

I get ya, just flip it round, and then when you have a spill people will still know you're running xtr pad holders 😉

You’re gonna laugh at my suggestion, but jagwire compressionless made those canti feel hella sharp even when toe in.
Bizarrely I found it reduce fork judder too.

• #188
Yes innocent mistake. He’s going to post me the correct front right pad holder.
-
• #189
That doesn’t surprise me. The XT cantis from 1990 on the Stumpjumper absolutely slap without compression less housing, so I would hope these XTRs with compression less will be even better.

Meh. People hate on Canti’s. set them up good and they’re solid. Wet weather yeah, they’re a bit poop, but that’s the same as disc vs caliper.
I went for magnesium lurid yellow TRP’s or summat. They’re beasting.
XTR’s will do just great. I’d spend some decent casheesh on pads though. Something Swiss stop should suffice.

• #191
it'll work but
But one pad will jump out of the holder when you pull the brake...
-
• #192
Don't forget cantis are significantly better with flat bar levers. But I can't complain about mine.

Unfortunately these holders have a specific insert, while still available they aren't made anymore. Finding Swiss stops that fit might be a bit of a pain.

If they're the big chunky ones like these I recently bought a set of kool-stop salmons on ebay.

• #195
He's sent me the correct pad now so it's all good.

My brake hardware hasn't yet left Riv either, so it's gonna be at least the weekend by the time this is built. Meh.

It took me a month to find a silver brake hanger last year - wound up with the IRD version as the only option. Riv version looks good, nice to have an adjuster.
-
• #198
Yeah, got a barrel adjuster along with the front one as well.

Any updates?
Good luck, they offer me 10% discount cause the rail bent when I set it at the very max end (not past it, at the max).
They’re way more comfortable than Brooks but the leather is so much weaker/American.
