By coincedence, I saw this one for sale on FB today. More or less what you're after, right.
Lovely bikes!

So this is interesting, won't name the UK companies, but asked 3 well known ones for a quote for:
Fix rear dropout
Chroming forks, dropouts and RH chainstay
Repaint Enamel with fitting of decals provided by me,
Lug filling with contrasting colourTwo of those companies never replied.
One replied with a quote of £579 of which £17 only to mask dropouts and RH chainstay chrome when applying colour. Which seems an overkill.
Also £55 to paint fill 8 small holes in contrasting colour.£120 chroming of dropouts and RH chainstay plus £150 chroming of forks.
Asked an Italian company, renowned Cicli Pelizzoli, full quote: €340
Decals fitting and contrast filling included in repaint job (180 euros), masking not even mentioned as it'd be ridiculous to even thinking of charging let alone do charging it.
110 euro to chrome forks, dropouts and RH chainstay.

I got a quote from mike at https://www.vintagecyclesport.com/ for a gios, quote he gave me was pretty reasonable as he's an independent. He did say chroming has gone up in costs as not many people still want to do it. Can't comment on end result as was trying to organise it when my daughter was on the way and I've dropped the project for now. Seemed like a nice guy though, if you're looking.

I think I'll stick with Pelizzoli. I'll bring it to them personally as well

Nice project
Any feedback on Pelizzoli work ?
Why would someone drill the dropout like that? I can't imagine the reason
-
• #13
No idea.
But Pelizzoli did an amazing job.
The decals I've provided aren't the best, but the paint is top notch. -

Dang, I think I had a bike just like that. The original paint was a mess and I had the frame powder coated. Big mistake by the looks of it. It was light and beautifully crafted. The only issue was a crack in the seat tube. I guess the Columbus SL tubes were just so thin that it could not take the pressure. Anyways really nice frame. I hope we get to see it built up, maybe with some Olmo pantograph parts.

The pictures above don't do justice to the quality of the paint btw.

My pics.
You'll see that the logo on the seattube is vertically squeezed and that's my fault for not checking the decals before sending them over.
The one on the back of the seattube has not been placed correctly and it's off center :-(

But already chipped it :-( a piece of the seatpost fell off and chipped the paint a bit. 😭😭😭
As usual, instead of trimming, I increase.
Yesterday this went on sale for 70€ and as I always fancied a Competition in bright red and yellow trimmings, and as it was in exactly my size, and after recognising I had already chosen to take it from the moment I saw it (no matter the lies in my head), I pulled the trigger.
It's in a sorry state and some moron drilled a hole in a dropout.
I believe it'd be easy to fill and reshape the dropout.
I identified it as a Competition from early 80s as it matches one found on this Olmo dating site:
http://www.peterbrueggeman.com/cr/catalogues/olmo-ssn.htm
Full of useful Olmo info. Check Serial Number 689 (not E689), Olmo Competition 1981
Love those reinforced forks.
I'm gonna spend a bit on it as it'll be a keeper. So full repaint in Olmo red, already got all decals from 3 different sources (which cost, overall, is higher than the frame itself!!) and will keep the same amount of red.
Either Nuovo Tipo or Record, period.
If I find pantographed parts, the better. But I'm not fussy about it.
