  • Brickie happy with me wall and stated he’d seem worse by proper brickies.

Slab poured - I just watched.

  • Nice. I'd kill for that much extra space...

  • Just think of the clutter you could fill it with...

  • I'd spread out my existing clutter so I could sort through it and get rid of loads of it.

And then have one of those semi-minimalist homes with shelves with large swathes of emptiness.

  • @pryally excellent work.. you know that the hardest part is done right?

I was an architectural technician for decades, I can remember countless ground condition details in my time.

The offset detail by the LA is I believe a better connection for wall and roof junctions, vertical movement joint is recessed instead of exposed, down pipe from gutter sits there too.

  • It’s a planning condition not a construction detail requirement I believe?

Yes, please to be out of the ground with only a couple of issues.

  • The beauty of living in the North…

  • Update, flying up…

  • Brick before the block is unusual but I don’t suppose it makes any difference. Have they put tie wires in?

  • yes, wall ties are.

In my experience they normally build external brickwork first and blockwork second but I guess it varies. Unusually the brickies are building the traditional way by building the corners first, it seems more common to use profiles now

  • Will have to change the title to ‘me photographing builders work’

Chamber joists in and steels installed

  • Any more updates 👀

  • I’m away on holiday and they will supposedly be up to wall plate tomorrow. This were the last photos I took before the weekend with brick detail between windows to front elevation

  • Do you just smash though the original house walls at the end or is there some weird interior design planned?

  • Downstairs I will remove the bay window and this will link the spaces. Upstairs will be a door where the window is. Plans are on the first page

  • I’ve nearly built a wall….

  • I’ve completed my wall - not perfect and would be better if I was to build another

  • Not messing about there! Why a block wall rather than stud?

  • It’s supposedly acting as a buttress wall providing restraint to the gable wall

  • Is it tied in at either end? toothed of starter ties?

    PS.. Looks good
