Sub compact gravel chainsets, what is good/durable. I've managed to rinse two sets of praxis alba chainrings in 11,000km. Is there anything better/more durable for shit weather in the UK? Chain gets a cursory wipe down after every ride and changed on the reg but still managing to go through them rather quickly?

I’m thinking of moving from Alba to Ultegra with Absolute Black 48/32 rings for this reason. Haven’t done it yet as it’s a bit spendy but other option is Easton.

If you want to stick to a 30mm axle, Rotor aldhu or vegast w/ direct mount rings, White industries G30, FSA do some but they're all absolutely gopping

I think buying new chain rings every 5-6 years isn't too much of an outgoing.

@Belagerent 2 sets in 3 years I think is taking the piss abit. I mean I could (probably will) just run the drive chain into the ground until it longer shifts and replace everything all at once. After a no doubt long walk home one day.
@stelfox I'm not fussed on the 30mm axle, does that open up more options? Means switching out the BB I guess (which is definitely knackered).

I’m running this on the Spooky with a 12 speed chain (AB recommendation) and I couldn’t be happier.

There's a 55cm Velo Orange Pass Hunter up for grabs in the complete/frameset classifieds that would do the job if it's the right size?

Get shimano GRX if you can ever find stock. Can always use some aftermarket options if they turn to be cheese.

Thanks, that is niiiiiiiiice! Too small for me sadly, but love it!

Thanks, yeah looks great on your Spooky with r8000. I have some 6800 cranks in the parts bin that I may do that with, but looks better on 8000, I think.

When commuting through Vienna it is like every 4th bike or so now is a newish gravely one, really the normal models from Rose or Canyon, Cube, Focus, Scott, etc. I am just wondering every day how it evolved

Gravel bikes fill the void left by MTBs after they became too extreme to be practical everyday bikes.

Ah damn! Yeah lovely bike. I'm probably looking to shift a Midnight Special frame in a 56 fairly soon, but sounds like that wouldn't be any good either.
