    Depends....!

    Stainless into aluminium is bad (galvanic corrosion hell). Some zinc plated would be good in that situation, or coated stainless.

  • Is it really that bad? I've got a few alu stems with A2 and A4 stainless bolts, all installed with shit tons of grease. Not had a problem with corrosion... yet.

  • It's fine if you don't introduce an electrolyte. Add sweat or meltwater from salted roads though and it gets ugly fast.

  • We have to use stainless coated fasteners at work into our aluminium castings because of this. Done a fair amount of work on it in the past . Have some great pics of aluminium being eaten away by it!
