Yeah, personally I swerve the big festivals these days and go to much smaller events with more interesting programming across the board, but the idea that Glasto is basically 'elton john on clapham common sponsored by Bacardi' is genuinely laughable...

I bet you can still buy mushroom tea in the Green Fields then go to the Stone Circle and meet some Scottish people who give you some incredibly strong speed and stay there dancing until 6am then stagger back to your tent to find you've lost your lift home 'cos they told you to be back by 4am and you totally drug forgot

I worked at SGP for a couple of years in the early 2000s then played there in various bands for a couple other years. Sure, it was slightly overrun with bristol students who thought they were edgy for taking ket and wearing flowers in their hair, but again if you were able to look past that surface there were some incredible musicians and artists doing really interesting things and I had many life-affirming times there meeting great people, listening to great music in lovely surroundings. People seemingly looking to affirm their own edginess/coolness by sneering at such events are undoubtedly great fun at parties....

I've not been to Glasto but one of my old colleagues used to go every year, he has a collection of small tattoos done on lads trips to Malaga.

To be fair, I was just tabling SGP to see if the ununformed dad-core grouches were against it as well as glastonbury, seeing as they have a fair amount in common.

loved Sonar, the year I went digable planets performed, and I think the beastie boys, but drunken memory is drunken.
also enjoyed 6am walk back to apartment along the beach, after getting off the bus from whatever industrial complex on the edge of barcelona sonar by night was held at with the temp in the low 20s.

The only problem I had with Sonar was the amount of 2nd hand smoke involved. I was sweating ashtray smells for days afterwards.

I went in 08, can't really remember the bus ride back. Bought cigs on the walk home. Had a decent dinner the last night. Nearly vommed on the RyanAir plane home.

Have to correct myself: South by southwest sxsw, did not scale with the years as I’d expected/misremembered. Although it’s more of a conference than a single private festival. In 2014 there were more than 2000 musical acts, Glasto had 2900 in 2019.

Euro car parts.

Took me half an hour to get down a queue of five people to buy an oil filter. One guy serving and collecting (who couldn’t find an asshole with a mirror on a stick) at least five other employees wandering through or having laughter conversations the other side of the warehouse door.

Oh yes, and working on modern cars. I used to tune and race a-series minis. Currently (wife’s choice) have a Mini (gah!) Countryman Cooper. Is it possible to make a car harder to work on? Oh and to top it off, the last cunt who put new tyres on it has replaced the locking wheel nut adaptor with a completely incompatible one. Just had to fix a screw puncture with the wheel on the car as no way of removing it.

I haven’t put fuel in the thing since before Christmas. It now has new oil, filters, plugs and the slow leak fixed. Tempted just to get rid. Bob the Bullitt does everything I need.

'That wisdom tooth has to go and I can do it right now'. Ffs, I only went for a check up and Mrs B (no apologies, she's happy with it) was duty receptionist, so I couldn't run away screaming.

I wish all mine were gone - 3 down. I have more fillings than teeth, I get a little tired of dentists wanting to "save" my teeth at terrific expense, only to have the whole thing capped or yanked out in the end.
