  • Thanks for that, really appreciate the offer. I've been meaning to make a trip to Bournemouth for a while (I went to uni there but haven't been back in years) so this might give the motivation to get round to it! I'm thinking a Bullitt might be the answer to this purely hypothetical question.

BIG WHEELS 🚲 This man in China was spotted hauling a car on the back of his three-wheeler. According to a witness, the man appeared to be a waste collector transporting a scrapped car. https://twitter.com/nowthisnews/status/1538024457440313344/video/1

  • Favourite kid carrying cargo bike? Needs to fit a 2yo & a 5 yo. They are getting too big for our trailer (which will prob be on sale here once cargo bike is acquired)

    Hard requirements:

    • kid space for a few more years
    • electric assist (east coast of Scotland => hills and wind) with min range 30km, ideally more like 50

We've tried the Raleigh Stride 2, Urban Arrow, and Tern GSD. (Also tried a Nihola trike and hated the handling.) While the long tail one was more fun to ride, we think the box will suit us better. Liked the Stride a little better, which is handy as it works out a fair bit cheaper if you spec the UA with the cargo line motor to match the Stride. Bullitt looks pretty ace, but its spendy.

That said, we are going to sell the car after our summer holiday...

  • In a similar position, looking for a car replacement for our local journeys, the babboe e curve seems to fit the bill for us, just trying to find a good used one now..

Hopefully it can manage a ~26km round trip so my wife can do the commute as well as the school drop off..

  • Hey Bullitt owners!
I have an MDF form for making side panels like this guy if anyone wants it?

I'm deeply inept at woodworking so I've made a pretty excellent hash of making these but they're good enough for now and the overall process is pretty easy. I have no reason to believe I'll do better on a second (or third or fourth) attempt so this won't get used again by me.

The form is made from a whole sheet of MDF so it's pretty heavy (but transportable by Bullitt obv!) and it's screwed together so you can make one side then unscrew, flip all the pieces over and screw it back together to make the other side.
Currently in Brixton but I can take it with me to the office in Angel on the occasional trips I take up there these days

  • We tried a Babboe when we were choosing between cargo and trailer and it was a bit meh compared to UA. The owner of it seemed to like it however!

  • Any suggestions for GPS trackers for cargo bikes? I'm sure there's been some discussion about it in here in the past but I can't seem to find it.

Edit: I managed to UTFS successfully- @MCamb how are you getting on with the tracker backpedal.co fitted for you?

  • I got backpedal.co fitted to my Tern the other week. There was some initial teething problems with the mounting of the tracker and not getting enough signal. They came out to test with another tracker before fitting the original tracker in a slightly different place. Has been faultless since.

When I asked he said they had only had 3 call outs. One person couldn't be helped as they had it fitted to a regular bike and hadn't changed the tracker. One person forgot they gave the keys to their partner so the bike was found round the corner. The third instance led to someone's back yard where a haul of stolen bikes was recovered by the police.

Edit: Just noticed the price increase. think I got there as one of the early customers. there is a hefty installation fee now.

  • For what bike?

  • there is a hefty installation fee now.

Oosh yeah. Reckon that’s prob got at least some of the cost of the tracker in it now.

  • 4x Urban Arrow XLs.

  • 100% powunity. Contact them to get a B2B and go with the fleet option. Also adviseable to get Hexlox and use to secure the Non DS crank arm.

Backpedal will use powunity on Bosch ebikes too, so might be worth contacting them to see if they offer a fleet / business orientated service. And compare!

  • Also adviseable to get Hexlox and use to secure the Non DS crank arm.

I dont understand this, I could install it without taking the NDS arm off ?!

  • The motor casing might be different for your bike? Seems pretty impossible to get access without taking the arm off although in all honesty I’d not tried and don’t work on the bikes anymore to give it a shot.

  • maybe .. it was just 3x torx and the panel comes off, cargo gen 4

  • The casing is pretty different. I think I can see how you could get access without taking the arm off

  • well, I have a spare hexlox now ;)

  • was just 3x torx and the panel comes off

    What size is the screw?

  • how are you getting on with the tracker backpedal.co fitted for you?

Just to add the tracker I had fitted was for a non ebike. Not that impressed with it's accuracy but its better than nothing.

For ebike use Powunity is great.

  • isnt backpedal powunity? but more expensive?

  • Powunity is for ebike use only. For standard bikes there are other battery operated trackers on the market that backpedal are using / trialling. The one I'm using requires charging fairly frequently.

Backpedal offer install, subscription, tracker, and 24/7 retrieval. I think even with the new cost it's a great service for a lot of people.

  • I think that was the name I was looking for. Thanks a lot, will look in to that.

  • Put some silly shoes on the cycletruck yesterday.

  • So good, I'm very jealous
