• I was surprised that you didn't call it like that.

  • I'm telling you man, putting senior in front of my title seems to have opened the gates up to having to talk to people I can't just tell it like it is. Got to soften the blow for the poor widdle manager's.

In the old days it'd be more like
"What do you mean it's a total mess and will take 6 months to fix?!"
"It's fucked. Go speak to the dickhead you replaced that has left this shit rot for 10 years if you want to know why it's fucked now. I'm just telling you how to fix it"

  • Head of Tech, a while back
"Well done hippy, you didn't swear throughout this whole meeting"
"Ahh shit, I'll try better next time"
    #micdrop #rideoffintothesunset #nofucksgiven

  • Anyway, powermeters, telling people that don't need to know, how shit they are, for over 20 years.

  • I wish there was someway for the wahoo to show you avg power for the segment your riding, i.e whichever climb user amey is going up. Rather than having to hit the lap button as you go up the climb and have that 'lap power' as your avg power for the climb in the climb segment.

  • Anyone on here switch to Favero Assiomas from SPD-SL? What do you think of the cleats? On one hand loads of people saying its weird / they dislike it. On the other hand people have been using KEO variants for nearly 20 years...

  • Anyone still have Powertap SL hubs and used LR44 batteries in them rather than SR44?

I've put LR44 in to see if it works and got nothing but don't know if it's the lithium instead of silver oxide and slightly lower voltage or something else is wrong, like the hub is dead.

  • For the above SPD-SL to Assioma question:
Made the switch, virtually the same. Yeah, cleats are a bit more slippery but I can get used to them. So far, very impressed by the assiomas.

  • I been using assioma shi duo with an spd mountain bike body for the last 2 months with no issues at all

  • Sub £200 PMs. Do they ever come up? Not new of course

If you are still after one of these..

    £185

  • Ooft, that's a good price! I had been tempted on some favero assioma duo shi pedals, but might just do this instead...

  • 1 month later and the spindle of my left shi duo snapped!

  • Anyone had an issue of Polar HRM tearing through batteries.
Guess I need to email polar. It's just over 1 year old

  • Do you remove one/both sides from the strap when you take it off?

  • No. But that's a good idea.

  • I saw various reports online, before buying one of their units, that you need to disconnect the sensor from the strap to get half decent battery life.

  • Thanks, I'll do that and hope it helps.

  • Yeah, I do this on my Polar HR monitor.
It seems to stay connected to devices forever, especially if it connects to two different devices like Garmin watch and iPad, so may be on a state of broadcasting all day.

  • I leave my garmin in the garage and strap upsairs. Polar said this:

Dry and store the strap and the connector separately to maximize the heart rate sensor battery lifetime. Keep the
heart rate sensor in a cool and dry place. Do not store the heart rate sensor wet in non-breathing material, such as a
sports bag, to prevent snap oxidation. Do not expose the heart rate sensor to direct sunlight for extended periods.

  • Do not expose the heart rate sensor to direct sunlight for extended periods.

So no open jersey on a sunny day?

  • At least they didn't go as far as to say; do not use hr montior on human skin, or something

  • Someone on reddit made a free, no-login-needed powermeter comparison tool, and now that I have a multisport garmin as well, I thought I'd put all my PMs on one bike to see how they compare.
    I've got these power meters:

    1. Power 2 Max classic 130bcd spider based (usually lives on the gravel bike)
    2. Favero Assioma Duo (road bike)
    3. Powertap G3 (TT bike training wheels, Assioma pedals for racing)

So far I only compared the P2M and Assiomas (got only 2 headunits), done 4x1' intervals and the difference between the 1' avg power between these two has always been less than 1.5%. Quite happy with that! (Assioma in orange, P2M in blue)

I'll be using the assiomas most, so I compare all others to them. I'll do one against my Elite Direto as well.

Edit: Worth mentioning that the P2M classic is a 9 year old power meter!

  • Thanks for the link, been after something like this for a long time (although probably as I have a long lay off from training....)

  • For some reason the site above stopped working with my files. Very weird. Great opportunity to test Zwiftpower!
If you have a zwift account this is a clear winner. Shows your a power curve comparison, gives you % differences (also does that on segments you select from your ride). Quite handy!
