The fracture was right across the top of the femur so they got the longest pin available and used it to nail the broken bit back on under traction. The pin is secured top and bottom with screws, 2 above the knee and one through the hip ball

This metalwork is in there for life and apparently you can't get Orthocards or any proof of metal implant anymore so I've got all that to look forward to. I was supposed to be in Italy this week but I'm only just managing the stairs on my crutches so I'll be grounded for the time being.....
