  • We must have a different version out here - they look like overgrown house flies and take chunks out of you, but don't hurt nearly as much as a wasp or bee.

  • They're not the cleanest of insects, being around horses and cattle, so whatever they've had their bitey bits on can react with you. It all gets a bit nasty very quickly. I've had multiple wasp stings but neverany bee stings. I can happily tolerate bees and wasps around me but horseflies are rarely just passing through, they actually want some of you.

  • They're mostly just hot & itchy unless they get infected, then it's a whole different experience.
