you can borrow benny if you'd want to discourage yourself from the idea, he's pretty much the opposite.

Altogether now... Stupid fucking selfish cuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuunts.
was sheer luck benny was on the lead when my gf took him to the park the other night or he'd have probably stuck his face in that freshly abandoned bbq trying to get the sausages.
people are the fucking worst.

Ahhhh fuck me. There's even a bin just over there ffs

They were being responsible by not putting a hot BBQ in a plastic bin.

I assumed that was in reference to the piles of rubbish and meat.

Nobheads. The park near me is always horrendous first thing on a Monday morning if it was a sunny weekend. I'm constantly wrestling something out of Crumpet's gob.

It’s chips and kebab meat on the pavement near us. I don’t mind ours getting the odd chip but doner meat and chilli wreaks havoc on a dog’s guts.

Drowned rat went for his first swim today.

Nice, how did he like it?

He then went a second time!
He loves water, always in it, even in dead of winter But never swam before just paddled. Maybe it was hot enough to swim today.

We’re going to Poland to my in-laws’ for a month, in a month, and all the kennels are full and all the home boarders are too expensive (about a grand).
Was thinking about getting the pup ferried over with a pet transport company - she has an EU-issued pet passport, can anyone confirm (before i pop back to the vets) that this means she won’t need an Animal Health Certificate, and just the rabies + tapeworm vaccinations?

That's not how it worked for us when we went to France.
If you're going from the UK<>EU then you need the Animal Health Certificate with the Rabies shot beforehand. Then while you're out there you need to get the vet to apply a worming treatment and fill section four of the AHC out. That'll allow you to come back to the UK.
The pet passport IS still used when going on between EU countries (i.e. if you're going from France to Poland my guess is that you'd use that here) but its the UK<>EU bit that needs the AHC.
Apparently getting an AHC in London is brutal atm, weeks and weeks lead time, best advice I got was to look at Vets near Dover because a lot of them specialise in it for people who haven't got theirs sorted in time. It needs to be a specific vet too, I can't remember the name of them, but they have to be govt certified. Good luck.

*unless you have a pet passport issued in an EU country
Our Uk issued one is invalid for UK<>EU. Our Austria issued one is valid for UK<>EU.

Think twice about this. A friend of ours used to work in animal processing at Heathrow (one of the better equipped airports) and there is not a chance that we would fly Otto in the hold unless there was genuinely no possible alternative.
Also, your AHC and travel costs to get a dog to Poland and back will be more than a grand I think.

She came across from PL to UK in a van with a pet transport firm last year - wasn't the happiest but didn't seem too bad.
Cost about £300, though that was when very few firms had all their post-Brexit paperwork in order to be able to do it commercially, so hoping it at least won't have become far more expensive.Still keeping an eye out for kennels with spaces in the meantime, so fingers crossed.

A dog bit my dog this morning. She's okay but will be a trip to the vets. The other dog owner should stump up the cost, right?
-
• #4693
100% yes

• #4694
Sorry, assumed you'd be flying. Some vets are charging £300 just for the AHC though.

No probs! We've almost sorted the situation now, which involves paying a bit more, but having her stay with a friend-of-a-friend who is a registered and insured dog boarder/walker, which gives a bit more peace of mind even if it does almost break us financially..!
That said, tomorrow is the last day of paying both rent and a mortgage, so fingers crossed money woes will subside shortly (with home-ownership being famously cheap and unproblematic...)

Sorry to hear this. Personal opinions aside it might come down to whose dog was on lead or not and if the owner made any attempt to distance there dog from yours before it happened. Some more details would help if you're ok to share.

Both off lead, playing fetch separately in a field, daisy ran over to join in and say hello to the other dog, got a nip in return. She's boisterous and a bit full-on but we'd had no indication we should keep our distance or anything
-
• #4698
Tbh i think you need to chalk that up to dog being dogs.
If my dog was off the lead and bit another dog of lead while playing, or was bitten by one, I'd take it on the chin.If the other dog was playing fetch it was likely defensive of its ball, no wonder your dog got little bite for going and bothering it. Sorry but it's on you.
Ps. I'm sorry, I hope your dog is okay, it's distressing.

I think I get where you're coming from but I've come across a lot of defensive/possessive dogs and none of them have bitten before. To be clear, it wasn't playful, there's a big old flap of skin and a load of exposed flesh. Credit to the other dog owner though, he was very apologetic, said it had never happened before and gave up his contact details. Hopefully he'll be more careful in future.

I'm sorry to hear that, sounds nasty I hope it heals well. i suppose if the dog came bounding over to yours and bit it, then I'd say it's the other dog owners fault. But in this instance yours went over to it, interrupted their game and got a bite. I don't think the other owner can be held that responsible. I think perhaps you needed to be more careful, I know that's going to be hard to hear, but one could argue you didn't have your dog under control. I don't mean to cause annoyance, just pointing out another view.
We've been looking after this guy for a friend this weekend. He's making me want a second dog! He's great with Crumpet, great with our cat and generally just a nice little bloke to have about. If only we had a bigger place.
