Not the first time I've seen that problem with klampers. A friend actually made the cable do a 360° loop between the chainstay exit and the rear caliper because the direct route would have put a dog leg in it. Hydro leverage > mechanical leverage.

Seems like hydro hoods are a bit bigger than mech ones, could be seen as a drawback
