  • Looks like my folks insurance will payout for ky dad's bike, so although I haven't chatted to him yet I'm keen to get an idea of models.

    Two priorities are

    1. Lockable rear triangle, and
    2. A non-obsolete rear hub so you can actually get parts unlike the T5.

    My gut says a 2 speed with lower gearing, but in a lot of ways I've always thought the 6 speed was fairly useful given the negligible extra weight of 3 vs 6. Bars wise I think the trad ones are still fine, although if there are bars even higher that would be better.

    Also given his age I'm curious about the electric ones. Although I think it may be price prohibitive. What are they like? Useful? Amazing? A gimmick? Plagued by issues? Any insights appreciated.

  • I would go m3l or h3l for ease and simplicity; you gotta buy new from shop?
