Couple of evenings this week, after kids are in bed, to "tidy-up" the BB area. Yellow's not a perfect match and my lug lining is nowhere near as neat as Mercian's work (obviously) but this had to be done: it's an improvement from what it was, with the satisfaction that there was no rust under the mess, and the revealing of frame number.

Rebuilt the bike (sans mudguards for now, because I really don't like the ones that came with it), with my preferred cantis. Still need to find a more period appropriate FD.
Around the block test ride was satisfactory, just a little saddle adjustment.
No rain tomorrow so I'll commute with it.
I think Berthoud mudguards are what I want, tho Honjo are only a tenner more on Freshstripe, but GB more bromproof, but, but...

Very nice. Only the tyres are letting it down imo

Agreed! The fucker came with these indestructible continental tires! I may swap them with the panaracer/planet X tan wall tires from the Dawes...

Looks lovely in yellow.
Makes me wish I bought my Pelago in yellow instead of the sparkly grey. -

I've decided not to be such a fussy f***er, and re installed the mudguards that came with the bike. I've removed the horribly homemade rear mud flap (will put another one later maybe), and gave them a little clean. They're a bit wobbly but I don't want that bike to be "precious". Also makes the tyres less ugly I think.
If/when GBs / Honjos are ever on sale, then maybe...

A pair of silver hammered mudguards wouldn't look amiss on this - but those look fine.
And you can always get metal ones if these crack or break. -

Couple of Mercian updates...
Couple weeks back I bodged a rear rack I had into a front rack, which was satisfying... With a bit a amateurish brazing.

But then I was remaining unhappy about these mudguards, and still not wanting to buy some, I swapped with the tandem's ones, which are much nicer and were anyway a bit tight with the tandem wheels (contis size big...)
Unfortunately I couldn't make them work with the front rack, which had to go (until I modify it's bracket clearance)
I also found an old cute steel rear rack on eBay for cheap. It's quite small and fits quite forward so I think I'll have to limit myself to the small (front) super Cs panniers.

I'm quite happy (finally) about where it's arrived now.

Love it : )
The mudguards and rack finish it off nicely -

Thanks!
Unless I'm mistaken, I bought these mudguards from you years ago, they're the slightly champagne color ones, which I first used on the tandem -

Exquisite.

Oh yes, I think you did!
Quick mock up with intended bars/stem/saddle...
