  • If you do a lot of % pie charts, the opentype font Chartwell is good for quick + dirty efforts.

    What an amazing thing!

  • Is it possible to gut campy 9 speed shifters to make them Just brake levers like it is with 10 speed?

  • I had a pretty nasty crash when my bike completely slipped from under me last night resulting in a dislocated shoulder, broken ribs and various cuts and grazes.
I was riding in a separated cycle lane which has a leaking drain cover that over time has created a weird slime/moss residue that’s really slippy. Is it worth chasing the council for some kind of pay out for damages or would it be the water company?
Im pretty pissed off as I’m now out of work for 6 weeks (I’m a bike courier) and money is already tight!

  • Oh no. Hope you are getting the attention and treatment you need.

IANAL, etc. and I am certainly not an expert in this kind of thing. But have you anyone who can get out to recce and photograph the site - especially before anything might be cleaned up? Also check for advice given to others in the What to do in the case of an accident or the Pothole threads, in case there is good advice in there?

Also think about contacting LCEF, if they're still going - https://lcef.wordpress.com/in-case-of-accident/ londoncourieremergencyfund@gmail.com

Heal up & hope you're ok.

  • If whoever is responsible for its maintenance is aware, eg: some spray paint around or pointing to it, then you probably have a good chance of compensation. If no previous knowledge on their part then unlikely but worth a try anyway. You need to find out who owns it, then report it. If someone else cops it then they might have a claim too.

  • Anyone know the layout of the birmingham council building on lancaster circus?

Trying to figure out what meeting room 309 looks like.

Have found this but can't see what I'm after

    https://www.birmingham.gov.uk/downloads/file/18113/lancaster_circus_floor_plans

  • I think what you have there is just the ground floor.
I suspect Meeting Room 309 will be on the third floor - if that isn't me stating the bleeding' obvs.

  • This appeared outside in the street yesterday and was gone 2 hours later .

    Estate Agents ? Surveyors ?

  • Thanks 👍

    I think it's our roof.

  • I haven't been on the third floor for ten years or so, I used to be in highways information. Uv can confirm all the floors are the same, meeting room 309 will prevent be glass walled, round table and 6 chairs

  • You are a gem. Thank you. Do you happen to remember how big the lifts are? Are they tiny two person ones or larger 6-8 person ones?

  • I distinctly remember trackstanding in them, so I'd guess bigger, but those went all the way to the basement - there might be smaller newer ones by the foyer

  • I hope this is for some kind of oceans 11 heist

  • This thread gets more traction so: https://www.lfgss.com/comments/16567460/

Thickening up SPD shoe soles to stop them rocking side to side? Been there done that? Let me know...

  • Excellent use of lifts. Is the basement where the parking is?

  • limited parking in the basement, mostly pool cars/site vehicles, bike and scooters.

  • Thanks - they've said they'll reserve a spot for me in the basement, so that's perfect. Little do they know it's for an oceans 11 style heist.

  • Anyone heard of Bike Libraries?

    How do they work?

  • Hi All,

I'm considering running a higher capacity gearing than what the Ultegra R8050 DI2 Rear is spec'd for....

Shimano says its max capacity is 37t and I want to run 41t

Anyone had any experience? Am i just being stupid?

  • Yes, one of the places I work are going to be part of the Manchester one. I don't know how it works yet.

  • I assume it's just borrowing bikes though. We've got some bromptons waiting to be used for it.

  • Coincidentally I got an email this very morning about a new bike library that's being crowdfunded locally here in Enfield. Maybe lob a couple of quid their way and find out in person if you live nearby :p

(The page does also give a run-down of how they expect it to work, in broad strokes)

  • My house is on a nice-ish, but not especially posh victorian terraced street (Fishponds, if you know Bristol. We're not in Golf Club thread territory here). The street is pretty well maintained - it gets cleaned, the trees (it has trees) get cut back etc.

I walk my daughter to school through the 70s council estate round the corner and I notice quite a difference - the streets are clearly not maintained to anywhere near the degree ours is. I'm not talking about more litter being dropped or anything that would be down to the residents - this is street maintenance by the council contractors. Why would there be a difference in the upkeep if it's in the same constituency (Bristol East)?
