  • The optimum 90 minutes around dinner time seems like the deal breaker. Would be nice to be up and smashing life at 5am though

  • Got any more info about this?

For me, it might work to go to bed with the kids at 8pm, then maybe wake again in the night, then go back to sleep before I normally rise at 6am. Not sure about benefits though. Maybe sleeping 8pm-04am is a better deal.

My main gripe is that evenings are more or less wasted. I'm super tired after putting the kids to bed so tend to get stuck scrolling or watching films for an hour or two before going to bed, rarely do anything productive.

I'm currently simulating this. Fall asleep through exhaustion shortly after putting the kids to bed, then most nights get woken at some point between 2am and 3am. It's not working for me - I'm just permanently tired!

Does leisure time have to be productive?

  • If I remember right the optimum times are 90 minutes sleep at 7pm and then 1am to 5am, but it’s been a little while since I read Matthew Walker’s ‘why we sleep’
